Price Increase Update

I suppose that Hermès will always be priced most reasonably in the € zone, so I prefer to shop in Paris where they are also most likely to be (more or less) fully stocked. That being said, I've also shopped at Hermès in Tokyo – insanely expensive compared to Europe, but I got my hands on some stuff I haven't seen online or in my home store.

I happen to be a big fan of Yohji Yamamoto, so I go to Tokyo twice a year to shop – I get a much wider selection at up to half price compared to Europe. The exchange rate has worsened about 20% the last couple of years for me, but it’s still worth it. I might not actually save a bundle compared to shopping in Europe, considering the airfare and hotel, but I get a "free" business class ticket and reasonable hotel in Tokyo if I buy a few garments. And I don’t consider my Tokyo trips a chore.

Stuff will always be cheaper ("cheap" being a very relative term here) at the source. No import duties/taxes…

That's a great price..$6535 based on today's rate. In the US it's $7800 so with tax atleast $8200. If H raises US prices for these...a trip to Paris would be more logical than paying these US prices! Some of these bag price differences already offer Americans a 25-35% discount in Europe.
Exactly and if you have a couple of bags in mind, it is worth the trip. US prices are already high and they should avoid any price increase even though our economy is stronger here.

The previous price for the 90s-$375 US - is still showing up on the website. Free shipping. About $31 for tax. I had one on my wishlist. The Animapolis. Now there in all colorways - available on website for those looking to score the right color at the right price before the increase. Just put my order in for Fuchsia. Came up at the $395 price plus tax. Just sayin’ its February 1st today. When is increase??? Today or soon?

As far as photos being deleted, Hermes, if you’re listening, every scarf I’ve bought from you in the last several years is s result of someone here on this great purse forum showing off their photo. This recently purchased scarf is no exception. The photos on your site are not as informative as the ones members post here in real life where I can see them tied, and on real men and women.

Scarves were $395. Price increase for USA on Monday.

Yes, I heard Feb 1 but could be a week or so later. Silks up to about $430 and washed to $450 but not confirmed. I have not heard a number for shawls or bags. I suggest a trip to the boutique today if there are any scarves/shawls that you are seriously considering if you want to avoid the price hike for certain! Happy hunting!
Booooooo..... I don’t have time to go to H tomorrow. There are several Silks I wanted to purchase. :frown:

I believe someone in the SS 2019 scarves thread said 90 cm scarves are going up from $395 to $430. I really hope they’re wrong!
I hope that they are wrong too. It went from $395 to $430 a couple of years ago and sales slowed down. They reverted back to $395 and I had a few 90s bought at a higher price. Keeping it under $400 is more psychological to a consumer and one has to be more selective going forward with price pushing close to $500 including sales tax.

We don’t know what method H corporate execs use to increase or lower prices...but I feel it could be more likely that that they increase items such as 90 scarves because US prices for these are relatively in sync with Europe/UK. Many bags on the other hand are much more expensive stateside.

I noticed that prices for 90 scarves are €370 (~$423) in Europe and £340(~$445) in the U.K. Given these...I wouldn’t be surprised if they went up. . Not ideal...but atleast they are charging similar prices overseas.
