Preventing color transfer from bag TO clothes

I've done a lot of searches, and all the threads about color transfer I found are about preventing staining of the bags.

I have the opposite problem: my bags are staining my light color clothes. I'm looking to get a light colored bag, but until then, is there a way to prevent transfer from the bag to light colored clothing? Will a leather protector help, or will that just protect the bag?

Wilson's TLC will keep the bag 'sealed' with regular application.
