I think it looks great! but if you don't like it, maybe downgrade to a 1 carat so you can have the thinner band? I'd probably have gone with the 1 carat myself, but... it really is nicely made!

I think it is beautiful. Are the proportions very different from what you expected? If not, I'd keep it because I am the sort that will trust the professional to do their job correctly.

The proportion is quite different, on the 1 carat, the shank in the front is 3.2mm and 2.0mm in the back, now it is 4.06mm and 2.6mm. I guess it's about a 1.6 ratio between front and back. I really want thinner shank but I could be wrong as you said, the pro should know what they are doing!? But I can't help to think that the ring would like more elegant with a thinner shank.

Love love love the ring! And you must have tiny fingers because thag 2 carat looks significantly bigger. As a right hand ring that will be worn alone I think it's fine and a thicker shank is actually what I prefer for a RHR. It sends off a less "engagement ring" vibe.

However, if you don't love it and your husband finds it gaudy, I would see what they can do!

Thanks Whoops, my finger size isn't that small, I am a 5.5 so I think the stone looks bigger because it is set pretty high.

my gosh that's absolutely gorgeous! i've never seen a design like that, it's especially pretty from the side. personally i think it's perfect and wouldn't change a thing but i don't get to be the one to wear it *sigh* it's beautiful on your hand!

i'd suggest waiting a few days and see if you come to like it more than you did when the surprise of opening the opening the box and finding something you didn't expect to see is so fresh in your mind. we all have a picture in our heads of something, sometimes that's exactly right and sometimes it's a little bit off from reality.

Thanks Kate, you are right, I wanted to wait out a bit which is why I took the ring home to see if I will come to accept it, but you know, it's hard when you are already thinking about resetting the first day you have the ring.

I know what they mean about the proportions. My DF surprised me with a beautiful Lucida e-ring from Tiffany's. The way the ring is designed, the shank gets thicker as the diamond gets larger to maintain the 'look' of the ring. The 1+ carat rings look much thicker than those below 1 carat.

just curious, what is that chain in the picture?

Funny, I was using the reflection from the mirror at the wet bar and accidently got the wine holder in the picture. I really like it though as it looks pretty magical. =)

I think it is beautiful, but if it isn't what you wanted, I would ask for adjustments. You should be happy with it.

i didn't really like the shots in the box and thought the shank should be thinner too, but it looks quite lovely on your hand!

Since it's a RHR I think it's lovely, but if it's not what you asked for I would not accept it.

I think it is beautiful and prefect as is, although you need to be happy with it.

I think the thicker shank works better for a RHR. You don't want to look like the crazy lady wearing two engagement rings at once...

it looks beautiful on your hand.
I didn't like it much with the band though (sorry!)

Second thought: if u absolutely don't like it and have the funds. Slap a gemstone in this and then reset into the vatche swan that was your second option.

I think you should return it. If you're not happy with it now, you'll probably grow to dislike it more as time goes on. Go with your gut.

Thanks Ladies for all of your comments! Good or bad are both welcome. I slept on it last night and I am going to call my jeweler to see if they can just put my stone on the 1 carat ring and perhaps replace the prongs to fit my stone as I personally prefer thinner shank. Hope they will accomodate, if not, I will probably take your advice, Whoops.

Aww I don't think that it's not that we can't be happy so much as we have too many options and choices! And we are left wondering what else could I have done and did versus what I have. Not necessarily a "grass is greener" mentality but a "what if" or in general the lingering "or" especially with big purchases.

Let us know how it goes! Hopefully the jeweler can work something out. I'm not familiar with the setting company so maybe they can accommodate. Did you pay a premium to have a setting made for this larger size center?

It's beautiful and you have beautiful hands for it but if you just can't like it then definitely talk to the jeweler to see what they can do for you to be happy. It's not that we can't be happy, it's just that we know what we want and there's nothing wrong with that. You need to be happy no matter what anyone else thinks. Yr hubs is wrong about it being too gaudy though :smile1:
