I bought a Prada handbag today. It does not have made in tag and numbered tag. Is there any chance that I got the FAKE one? I bought it at Prada store at Fashion Outlets of Chicago. And the corners of the bag are torn out also. It was final sale so I could not do anything about it.

Please post pictures of your bag in the Authenticate This Prada thread: http://forum.purseblog.com/prada/authenticate-this-prada-please-read-post-1-first-813453.html

Read the first post of that thread to see the needed pictures and format. Please be reminded that while the authenticators will do their best to respond in a timely manner, they might not get to respond to all requests right away since this is not a paid service and really more of a kindness from their end (they do have lives outside TPF).

My humble opinion is that given that you bought it from a legitimate (I assume it is legitimate) Prada outlet, it is probably an authentic handbag. A "bait-and-switch" is a possibility, but you did mention that all sales are final (so no returns), which makes a bait-and-switch unlikely. If you want to be absolutely sure, then please post the needed pictures in the thread I mentioned above.

Thank you all for your advice. I just found the small made in tag at the bottom of the bag.It is really hard to find it. And my bag is made in Italy. The only problem now is that all the edges are torn out. I called them and they said that bring it back on Monday to see if they can do anything. I just hope that they can exchange or at least fix it for me.
I will definitely get my bag authenticated. Thank you Maice for posting the link.

You're welcome. Good luck with your bag.

I brought my bag back to the store and they issued me the full refund and I'm really thankful for that since they normally do not accept return or exchange.

I just bought the other Prada bag online and waiting for my shipment. I hope this time it will work well.

I am happy to hear that they issued you a full refund. You ordered your other Prada bag from Prada.com? It should be fine if you ordered it from there.

Good luck again with this new bag.

I did not buy prom Prada.com. I bought one at Neiman Marcus. And I also bought a different one at Ideeli.com at a steep discount. I believe Neiman Marcus sells authentic bags but I'm not sure if Ideeli sells authentic Prada handbags. But they guarantee that they sell authentic ones. I just received my bag from Ideeli today. I don't know if my bag is authentic or not, I just hope that it is authentic.

Neiman Marcus SHOULD be safe, but there's always the chance of someone buying the genuine article, then exchanging/returning a fake since NM's return/exchange policy is so accommodating to customers. Then, that fake which is now in their stock, ends up getting sold to some unsuspecting customer.

I've never heard of Ideeli.com. If you want to be safe, just have both bags authenticated. Post needed pictures and follow the needed format.

Thank you Maice,

I have not received the bag from Neiman Marcus yet, but I will definitely have those bags authenticated. Thanks again for your advice.

Used to be exclusively the Linea Rossa collection. Now? Honestly, the only to know is to find that little black ribbon tag you found. It's not just Made in China any more either. Might say Romania, India, Turkey, you name it.

Does anyone know where the tags, if there are any, are in the Prada Saffiano Long Wallet? I can't seem to find a Made in tag. But the wallet was bought from the Prada store over at London Heathrow Airport.

i don't know if this applies specifically to prada but, in the book deluxe: how luxury lost its lustre, the author mentions that some brands will have their most of their production outsourced to china, finishing touches like eg: details or handles will be done in italy and a tag with "made in italy" attached to the final product.
i will be more concern about quality as it seems that a "made in italy" tag is not guarantee the bag was not made somewhere else and under which conditions the factory is run

This is what I have heard as well. Most of the parts of the bags are made in china. Then the bags are shipped to Italy for some final minor touches and then the made in italy tag is afixed in!

If this were true then it would not be safe to know where Prada is made anymore.
