Poll! Hangtag and Charm Loss Prevention - What Do You Think of This Method?

What is your opinion of using a thin ball chain as a extra "guard chain" to secure charms/hangtags?

  • I think it's a great idea, I might do the same thing!

  • It adds security but I don't like the look

  • It looks terrible!

  • Quit worrying so much about losing your charms and tags!

I copied someone, it might have been you, actually. I bought a robot fob and wore it as a necklace, buying a ceiling fan chain in the same color. So cute, but it turned out to be heavy enough to bother my neck.

I think it looks fine. If I know I'm never going to remove the hangtag or fob, I use nylon thread or fishing line to hold it in place. It is nearly invisible.

Thanks! You've mentioned that before but I am not sure how to do it. Do you wrap the thread around the ball chain and tie it to something? And I have never worked with fishing line, where do you buy it (sporting goods store?) and do you tie it?

I don't wrap around the ball chain. I go through the hole in the hangtag and around the ring on the purse, and knot it. You can buy fishing line at Walmart, or nylon thread in the sewing section. You can probably use any kind of thread but the clear nylon would be harder to see.

ETA: Another thing you can go is use pliers to clamp the clasp on the chain so it won't open easily.

katev, I meant to also say I like your new avatar! I recognize your sweet Bunny!

Thanks! I've had the same avatar for years, my beloved teal sydney bag, but I decided that it was time for a change and I have been posting pics of my pet HoneyBunny with the Coachies every Easter for years, so I just made it official!

Oh, she is just so cute! I love the colour of her fur! She's like chocolate!

About how much does HoneyBunny weigh? I can see from your Nomad (which looks absolutely fabulous by the way) that she's just little. And does HB sleep in an open bed or do you have a basket carrier for her?

She is a Dwarf Rabbit and she only weighs about 3 pounds. She has a choice of places to sleep! She has a multilevel "condo" and we have fenced off a good portion of our basement for her, she's spoiled - but so cute and sweet!
