PM Empreinte Noir “leather”?

It looks like typical Empreinte to me. I can feel it with my fingers just by looking at the photo. The bag is gorgeous though. I assume that what you see on other people's photos really depends on the lighting and the colour of the bag too. Although there might be some differences in the leather production. But the true judge of this leather is touch. I am sure that most other Empreinte these days feels like yours. I am very curious what will be your experience if you visit the store and check out a few other Empreinte items. Please keep us posted.

So the smooth embossing isn’t the typical empreinte look? I only ask because 99% of what I’ve seen online has smooth embossing but mine has pebbles, like the rest of the bag. It doesn’t look how I imagined it would. Definitely going to compare in store.

Honestly, just by the pictures, yours looks just like everyone else's. It is not fully smooth on any of the Empreinte pieces. The grain of the leather is pressed flat (more or less), but the grain is still there. Maybe yours is pressed a little less, but these are all just photos. As I mentioned, the lighting and the base colour counts a lot! Comparing in the store will be the only good solution.
Even the official photos show grain in the embossing:

If you don’t love it might be worth returning.
Empreinte leather is treated leather and doesn’t smell 100% leather. Also if there is microfiber interior the plastic smell of the fiber surpasses whatever leather smell there is.
What Bull mentions I have seen it in person. A friend has an old (I believe 2010-2012) version of the empreinte PM which is like true leather, you can see the scratches and all, it seems really delicate while the nowadays one seems sturdy and coated.
Having said that, different bags have different empreinte leather. I had placed the On the Go MM in black empreinte next to the newly launched Neverfull black empreinte, and the Neverfull seemed “cheap” and not as sturdy as if the actual leather was much thinner. The epi version on the Neverfull is much nicer (even though well no Monogram).
But also the City Steamer is a full leather piece (not empreinte and no microfiber in, but still pebbled) and it didn’t smell much of leather either.

however as you see in the photos below the creases it’s very much leather (production week last week of February in France and since in the dustbag)

I came to this forum after a search for onthego Empretine MM black. I want the bag but hear this leather slouches and loses structure. Well the structure is what draws me to this bag. Your post and experience with the bag and this leather is exactly what I was looking for! Could you please share your thoughts on how the bag will hold up? many thanks

Will do!
I wanted so much to take her out but it’s raining non stop since I got her.
I don’t baby my bags, so it will be on the floor, filled up to capacity, squeezed in the car, scratched by the dog etc just not in the rain:rolleyes:
I recently saw a video (by Carolsummer if I’m not mistaken) where she goes through the “sagging” in the GM model but it didn’t discourage me from buying her.

I bought a PM in reverse last year, I liked it so much that immediately bought (online) the empreinte one in black. Well, my bag had a bad smell, really bad, and it wasn't at all beautiful like the ones that I saw in photos or video. So she went back to the store where my SA confirmed that was from a bad batch. I changed her with the v tote bb, great bag. Still never used, I continue to use my beloved PM, but hope in the future!

Good to know that I’m not the only one who seems to have this issue and that I’m not crazy after all.

Hi both of you, where were (are) your bags made? what is the label saying? Thanks
Mine was made in France, and also my first PM reverse (bought online) was made in France and it had the small black piece of leather over the lock visibly crooked. She also went back to the boutique and they changed it with one made in Italy that is perfect. The only two bags that I had to change, and I'm not picky at all.

Thanks for this info, it actually debunks the myth that made in France is perfection. I know so well how much stress it is to receive a flawed bag, so glad you got the perfect one you wanted.

Yep, it can happen even in France! No stress at all, I live near two boutiques but I like buying online, and all the SA are really friendly here, it all went smoothly.

I went to the store last week and they had 2 noir empreinte PMs. The leather definitely wasn't super soft but it definitely didn't feel like plastic. I felt like the leather would be durable and soften up over time. I noticed that even though the PM's aren't available online if you call a store they have stock and can you pictures and ship as well. Maybe you just got a bad batch. I'm of the opinion if you don't love it, don't keep it, too much money to not adore it.

The embossing looks fine, there is a lot of variance on the embossing.

Made in Italy from my experience is always better. The craftsmanship is way more advanced over there, if I’m not mistaken, Dior bags are also made in Italy.
