Sounds very interesting. If you have any examples would love to see...

The own the denim jacket in the second picture and it has very nice details an is a very soften linen cotton blend.

Not a fan of Goat. Big, boxy, dull shapes that are not flattering.
My favourites for natural fibers are Dolce and Gabbana (you can't beat their lace), Valentino and Alexander McQueen (amazing silk dresses), Marc Jacobs for cotton and silk dresses, and Katherine Hooker for coats and jackets. Beulah London used to do beautiful silk dresses, but lately the girls have been using lots of acetate. Matsour'i from Berlin uses very high quality cotton and silk, but I stay away from her polyester dresses.

oooh would love to see an example ! I have a very good friend who works for them and did not know that.

I buy a lot of RTW second-hand, unworn with tags still on, and get a significant discount. I always try to buy natural fibers bc I feel like even if it’s Chanel, polyester is polyester. Some I enjoy are:

Hermes (have a pair of silk trousers that are a dream)
Chanel (silk or wool tops, pants, dresses)
Carolina Herrera (have a gorgeous cotton New Look-type skirt that fits me perfectly)

Celtic & Co sells a lot of woolen products at reasonable prices and mostly made in Britain or the EU
Brora also for cashmere, appropriately expensive

I also love to shop vintage and have assembled a mostly silk collection of scarves that way, all of them from the 50s or 60s that I wear often. I also buy garments though getting the fit right can be tricky.

This is a great thread and I am having similar issues with a simple cotton long sleeve tee and a simple cashmere crew neck.

My experiences...

In cashmere...
Loro Piana is disappointing now. $1K sweater and it pilled after the second wear. They used to be great.

Burberry is a hit or miss. I have several crew necks for $600 each that are perfect. But I bought two this season that were $800 each and both of them started pilling after about 2-3 wears. Also, one has a hole in it already!

So... I am done with expensive brands for cashmere (expensive to me but I know there are far more expensive cashmere brands).

My current brand for cashmere is Equipment, the Sanni Cashmere crewneck, $295. So far so good!

For tees...
Splendid is super soft and lasts. I have tons and they are all holding up great! Tip... they have a 40% off sale that includes their classic 1x1 long sleeve tee, so I stock up then.

Majestic Filatures gives a more dressier tee shirt look. I size up as they are cut a bit slim to me. I also love their soft jackets. My favorite is the striped jacket for summer... with a tee and skinny jeans. Their 100% cashmere also seems to be great. I purchased a sweater this season and so far so good! I am impressed with this brand. Bloomies offers 25% discount often.

Vince is average. I love the Pima cotton but it’s on the sheer side and I get tiny holes at the waist so I think the quality is not good.

Saint James for cotton stripe tees. They are made in France and last forever. I also love their stripe combos!

Oohh.... I see there are new cashmere brands I must try...

For the lovely ladies in the UK...
could you please kindly comment on Johnstons of Elgin, Pringles and Eric Bombard?

I read in this thread they have good cashmere...

Which brand do you think has the highest quality and which has a slim fit?

I was just in London two months ago and did not think to look at UK brands for cashmere sweaters (I assume these brands are all popular in the UK?). Bummer!

Thank you.

I’m happy to see a thread like this and hoping more will chime in, I just love the weight and drape of natural fabrics, and include semi-processed fabric in some daily wears too (lyocell, viscose, bamboo viscose).

Some of my most worn brands:

Ralph Lauren black label (especially vintage)
Loro Piana - Aside from cashmere I love their linen. I do notice some items are not as amazing as others lately like you mentioned but still very high end regardless and more consistent than other brands. I’ll keep buying for the coats, style and colours.
Manrico Cashmere - for their easy washing double/locking knits or Supercashmere lines. One of my favourites, excluding their regular weight knits
Wolford - their viscose rib and fine merino rib which gets softer with time and definitely competes with my finest cashmere ribs
The Row - mostly for shoes but love their minimalistic heavy denims and wools
Hermes - occasionally for cashmere and leather trimmed RTW. So consistently well made imo.
Lauren Manoogian although I wouldn’t consider it ultra-luxe for construction. Very raw with a heavy and natural feeling great for minimal casual style.
Catherine Quin - workwear silks, mostly lined with 100% silk and excellent drape
Black Goat Cashmere - feels and washes more like a mid-range cashmere to me but they do have quite a few heavier knits and large selection of colours if you like wearing casual co-ords like I do
Agnona - linen knits, lightweight cashmere jackets but can be hit or miss imo
Sally Lapointe is a newcomer I’ve started to love after I bought a ribbed silk cashmere pant. Not sure how many natural fabric styles she will have.
Cruciani has great cashmere, especially the newer styles with heavier knits
Jitrois for some stretch lamb leather wearables like skirts, jackets and sheepskin coats although much of it isn’t my style

Vintage: I like Chanel, Oscar de la Renta for silk jacquards and wool dresses. One of my favourite fabrics to look for right now is vintage vicuña and guanaco. I just love the red camel colour and sheen of vicuña. Hard to find any other fabric that compares! Even makes cashmere feel too rough. The modern vicuna products I have (Loro Piana, Kuna) are beautiful but the vintage is so much heavier and thick.

Underwear/sleepwear: Carine Gilson, Luna Mae for their silk pjs and underwear (their silk is incomparable), Rosamunde Copenhagen for silk rib tops, Zimmerli for cotton ribs

Affordable brands: Muji has really surprised me with their “less itchy” ribbed wool turtlenecks. I have a few colours and they get softer as they’re worn while keeping shape. But I haven’t found much else there. Naadam imo is great for blends (silk cashmere rib) and style but not great for the pure fabrics
