Great info and thank you for the post! I cannot help but think that we really ought to ban those synthetics and plastics that destroy the planet. It’s so difficult especially for children’s clothes they are everywhere. I mostly buy majestic filatures and Hanro. Expensive but they last well when washed with care and divine to wear.
There’s a thread in reddit female fashion discussing this issue as well. Someone mentioned the Cora Ball as a way to catch the loose fibers in the wash for synthetics. Has anyone heard/tried it? I have an old large top load washer. I love the size and it came with the house when we purchased it so I’m not inclined to replace it until it breaks but am considering the Cora ball ...
I love the idea of this thread thanks for starting it. I’m always looking at the fabric content of my clothing when shopping. Glad to know I’m not the only one doing it lol.
I don't really have any specific brands to be honest. I generally dress pretty casual. I do like be love and synergy for tees, tanks, and sweatshirts. Llbean for sweaters and flannels. I'm in the process of upgrading my clothes I just bought a great sweater by theory. I'm hoping to add one or two cashmere sweaters this year. I don't want to spend a million dollars on them but I want them to be good quality. I'm a bit afraid of washing them and ruining them. And eliminating all the stuff I don't wear anymore. I was wearing a bunch of nordie house brands for basic tees but the quality has gone down.Hi Pixiejenna! Please share the brands that you have been pleased with. I am always on the look out for new ones to discover or rediscover [emoji6]
I do the same! I have been for over 20 years, ever since I saw a news report about how fast synthetic clothing burns during home fires and the enviornmental impact. That really scared me. Really impacted my choices not only with clothing, but home furnishings, too. I saw something a few years ago about how fast a home burns now (twice as fast) compared to 30 years ago. Also, home fires are much hotter now because of all the petroleum based items in the home now.I love the idea of this thread thanks for starting it. Petroleum based fabrics also create unhealthy environments and cause skin irritation. Excema in particular can became super inflamed.I do the same!
