Hi everyone, just got my Barenia Birkin 30 last Friday. Not sure why but the bag is rather slouchy. Is that normal? How do I store it? Should I let her sit upright or lay her down? Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Gorgeous bag. Completely different leather. Barenia Faubourg does slouch...this is normal and a part of enjoying that leather. OG Barenia doesn't slouch until many years and much use soften it (my B35 is now five years old and no slouch - in a 35!).
Enjoy your BF bag!

An easy and cheaper way to get exposure to and "test" Barenia can be through the Apple Watch strap. In my experience it definitely patinas dramatically quicker than say Togo. Obviously watch straps go through a lot more abrasion throughout the day (dragged across desks, tables, jeans, etc.) but can still be a helpful reference point for the leather's durability.

Unfortunately the Apple Watch strap isn't made in Barenia anymore (replaced by Gold Swift) - so if you find one in Barenia grab it!

I have that annoying and eternal question - how hard is it to get a Barenia kelly (smooth)? I am not the biggest spender, but I am a loyal customer. I have been offered 2 kellys over the past couple years (both of which I took, they were 2 of my top 3 wish list items), and I just placed my first so for my HG kelly. I have never even asked about Barenia, on the assumption that it is out of my reach...
I guess it doesn't do me any good to stalk the Barenia threads and never say anything to my SA!!
To answer your (not at all annoying) question with a (hopefully not annoying) question: How do you feel about Barenia & Crinoline? My obsession with H Barenia leather has driven me to acquire both a Kelly 40 and a Bolide 31 in that combination, & it is a beautiful pairing, if you’re open to buying one on the pre-loved market…. The woven horsehair that comprises the “Crinoline” is amazingly moisture & stain (& of course scratch) resistant; I’ve especially loved my Bolide:

Love barenia crinoline, and I prefer it in an all black combo. I had it in both a Vespa and a 35 trim II, but gave them away.
they developed some breaks in the crinoline, along the seam.
Oooh, @880 , how amazing that you had an all-black version of this combo, and in 2 such beautiful & different styles! In fact I tried to get an all-black Crin Birkin in an auction once, but in the end the price got too high & it went to some other bidder. As for the breaks in the horsehair, I must say I haven’t yet had that problem with either of my Crin bags, though I seem to remember reading a post by @bababebi explaining that such breaks (when miniscule) are to be expected. If you still have photos of your Trim and/or Vespa, I’d love to see them here sometime! ;)

Thank you! The barenia/crinoline is beautiful and a really interesting combo! But my first choice would be 100% barenia. After I wrote that post, I did start asking my SA for a barenia bag, but none has materialized. Maybe one day! I can be patient, and have also received bags that I love in the meanwhile.

Thank you!!!!! You are kind to have tracked this down for me - now I am only more obsessed with the all-black Crinoline variants. I especially love your (former) Trim.:heart::heart: [PS re: your other fab photo on that thread -I too have a TGM Picotin, in bleu electrique, & am thinking of bringing it into rotation now to enliven the drab colors of my NY winter wardrobe. Yours looks beautiful.]
