I have that annoying and eternal question - how hard is it to get a Barenia kelly (smooth)? I am not the biggest spender, but I am a loyal customer. I have been offered 2 kellys over the past couple years (both of which I took, they were 2 of my top 3 wish list items), and I just placed my first so for my HG kelly. I have never even asked about Barenia, on the assumption that it is out of my reach...
I guess it doesn't do me any good to stalk the Barenia threads and never say anything to my SA!! :facepalm:

It's definitely hard but letting your SA know you're a Barenia fan is job 1 :) All my SAs know how I (and DH) feel about Barenia and so we tend to get the calls. That's how I got my Barenia Kelly. Remember - Barenia is not for everyone - so people actually turn it down, a fair amount. I know I got the first call on my Birkin (and had to race to the store) but I'm absolutely sure I was not the first one offered my Kelly.

Thank you - and good point that not everyone wants it. I'm going to tell my SA. Once I can actually go back to the store, that is!!

I have a barenia retourne kelly. My store knew I wanted one (I wanted a B35 or a Kelly in barenia) and called me when one came in. I found out later it was the one barenia bag they ordered all year. This was 5 years ago. At the time barenia was not popular and so they only ordered one. I waited about 5 months from the time I mentioned it. I do think barenia is more available now than 5 years ago.

Thank you!! My store is going to start taking appointments this month so I am going to see what my SA says.

I asked my SA to let me know about any smooth barenia bags that come in. I received a B30 GHW but have been waiting for a barenia K in any HW for a few years. I was offered a smooth barenia C18 last year but passed as I’m still pondering on the C in general. I think smooth barenia is out there but just rare.

What amazing news, Quellefromage, about the resilience of your gorgeous Bareina B! I am a New Yorker who goes everywhere on my bicycle, & have been worried about what the basket or a collision could do to my Bareina baby. Thanks to you I can now start taking her on my rides, without fear! ❣️

It is amazingly resilient. The two things that can't be fixed in my experience are oil stains (sometimes they can be dried right away or hidden with baume) and scuffs/scrapes that go way down into the leather (too far to be buffed or rubbed out) although even these can be made to blend in. I'm looking for another Barenia bag right now and those are my two caveats.
I can't imagine anything more chic than biking around with a Barenia bag in your basket!! :love:
