Yum! I could just roll around in Barenia. It's soooooooooo nice in. a Birkin, especially a 35. And the more you use it, the better it will look. Also, it can be rained on, etc., and is basically invincible. Mine has been crashed into by a NYC bicycle messenger and the mark rubbed out completely.

Amazing QF!!! Nothing beats a well loved 35 barenia b (imho). Have you taken yours to spa yet? (Not that you need to, just curious).

I haven't taken it to spa...it doesn't have any marks or spots yet and any scratches have rubbed right out, so nothing to do unless I want to do the passage au savon. You can't tell from the photo but the bag hasn't patina'd yet and is still that raw caramel color that they call the "ugly duckling" phase. I like the color and don't feel a need to hasten the patina....yet :)

nice does it already have a patina then ?what size did you get?
The bag is a 1998. It does have patina and some wear. It is a 35, GHW. 35 is my best size. I'm a big bag girl. The photos I have received do have some imperfections. There is some corner darkening. It's not perfect by any means. The price fits in my budget, it is the exact leather I wanted. The seller has incredible feedback and was very responsive to me. My main concern was icky, musty odor, I won't even consider, I was reassured that it is light in patina with only Barenia smell and absolutely no musty odor. I also asked about the handle color as pics don't really reveal the extent. I will be picking her up from the PO tomorrow. She is there right now and it is driving me crazy that I can't drive there right now and claim her.
The main reason I chose this particular leather is that I am an Equestrian, so I love my saddles and how they age. I also wanted a smooth skin Birkin. The smooth skins attract my eye. I also want a bag that I just USE, everyday, no paranoia, I just want to use it freely without being concerned and fretful. Saddles age, saddles show wear. Quality saddles last many generations. My new to me Barenia is meant to be my go to for the rest of my days. I'm an oldster, almost 60. I will most certainly post pics tomorrow or Friday.

Congratulations! 35 is the best size IMO. I think it is ideal to have someone else start the patina on Barenia, especially since it is SO expensive new from boutique. I believe it is the highest-priced non-exotic leather. So resale is super smart.

Update. Sadly I returned the Birkin to the seller. I picked it up from the post office this morning. I had asked a very specific question of the seller. It concerned a complete make or break issue. This bag is a 1998. I did not expect perfection as the bag is 20 years old.Seller was great, item looked exactly like the pictures shown. The seller and I did not see eye to eye on the issue but she was wonderful and is going to issue me a full refund. I sent the bag back at my own cost as the issue is very subjective and I appreciated her not objecting although she did personally disagree and let me know how her bags are stored, if that makes sense. Expensive lesson, the shipping cost, but a drop in the bucket compared to what the bag cost. She willingly offered a refund. It had nothing to do with authentication. I am not disclosing the issue as she will most likely list again and we all have different opinions. It is a very subjective issue, I will say olfactory. Anyway, back to square one. Thank you all for your input. I was so hoping this was going to be a glorious morning.

Oh so sorry to hear that!! I understand completely (olfactory). The best smell is the fresh barenia smell. Nothing beats that. Unfortunately it will have to be a relatively young barenia. :) Well now that you know that’s what you want, let the hunt begins!!! :woohoo:
