I know lots of mid-00s bags had patterned lining, first the horse-bit lining (around '05) and after, sometimes the stripe. This colour will be Summer collection. I can't give you the exact date because it wasn't a fashion collection piece but there is something quite SS'07 about it :shrugs: (going by gut instinct rather than actual proof :fox:)

Thank you papertiger! I figured it was several years old, although you would never know by the condition. It didn't even occur to me it was from the summer collection because of the metallic. Makes perfect sense! Thanks again :smile1:

At your convenience, I would love to know more about this cute little evening bag. I will not be trying to buy it, so truly no rush. Cute as a button, but a shame it seems to be missing at least one of its original paste stones.

It's from the very early '70's (although the shield charm doesn't belong). I have a bag from exactly 1970 with the same markings and GG print but on suede, very finely made. This clutch wouldn't have had a name as such, some of Gucci's evening bags were made in very small numbers, but it should be silk-satin. I have a black silk satin grosgrain (from a bit earlier) For the evening (not talking cocktail) It was a faux-pas to carry leather/croc/lizard , however small, only fabric (ideally silk) or jeweled minaudieres were acceptable with a long gown.

I can't help but think this bag was part of a set, perhaps sold with matching shoes, there's something not quite complete about it.

Oh, that fine of a print in suede sounds absolutely delicious! And my appreciation for the edification (trying to come up with new ways to say TY)!

With re: the clutch, perhaps missing the other "insides" to accompany the mirror?

IMVHO, the taper at the top of the flap throws off the balance of the bag when used as a clutch. I am sure that was intended to prevent rubbing from the detachable shoulder strap (also conspicuously missing?), and I would rarely express a preference for a shoulder worn evening bag, but I feel without the strap, the flap does not quite look like it matches the rest of the bag. I would prefer it squared off, or perhaps with the strap. That being said, fantastic condition for a white, silk, 40 year old bag! Ok, it is late and I am rambling... Sorry all!

I was not sure where to put this, didn't see a "Look at this pretty Gucci bag" thread! I saw tis on Etsy and I just love the details, especially the wood in the hardware! I am not considering it for purchase, just wanted to share. (DISCLAIMER: I do not know if it is authentic, nor do I know the seller, so please do your due diligence if thinking about buying it. I am not endorsing this bag, just sharing a picture.) Any info is always interesting!

Late-60/early-70s is my best guess without seeing the inside. The hardware on the strap is very 1960s as is the shape and material (I could just see an haute-hippy with this beauty). It will have had some really boring generic name like 'sports shoulder bag with hair and web stripe detail'

N.B The hair could be pony or calf hair. Apart from one bag from last year (soft stirrup) Gucci now mainly uses calf hair and not pony, for the reason that most people now prefer not to eat or wear horse, having definite sensitivities in this area (me included) but don't mind calf so much. Vintage Italian models, including Gucci, tended to use pony. Just saying, FYI.

Inspite of the note above, if you are looking to invest, this would be one of those items that IMHO will only increase in value (I'd need more pics to determine overall condition though ;))

Hi!
Just got my first Gucci purchase authenticated (yay!!) and was wondering, does someone know more about this bag, it's a basic black and dark brown monogram. I tried to search with the model no, 105649, but only found some Asian links.. How old is this model? Thanks! :)
