One would guess so. Diamonds are harder then gold or platinum, so they will scratch the adjacent metal band when both rings rub against each other.

From the profile shown in your photo, it looks like the pave band is low/thin enough that it sits below the prongs, so your prongs (most vulnerable) are safe. Over time, there will be scratches on the surface of you Ering shank, but there should not be a serious structural problem. The situation will be very different if the pave band sits high enough to rub against the prongs.
Thanks Christiflora... I didn't even consider the fact that pave diamond band will be more high maintenance until a few of you guys mentioned it. AHHHHHHH... now i don't know what to do LOL.

Leanneju, you should get whatever you like most.
As much as I worry about function and safety, I sometimes buy jewelry pieces that break rules. For example, I have a 3-ctw., shared prong eternity ring that I pair with my solitaire ring (when I need extra bling). I use a thin spacer band to guard against diamonds scratching/damaging the metal of my solitaire ring. However, I have nothing to protect the diamonds of the eternity ring on the underside from being banged up. Still, I bought the eternity ring, because I love it. Good thing I am right handed, so I can avoid getting damage 50% of the time.

For pave Diamond ring, I would try to buy from reputable jewelers like Tiffany or Leon Mege, who specialize in setting pave diamonds or will do good repair.

Yes, I was trying to look for pictures of how it would be if I had a spacer, which I think would help. Where do you recommend purchasing a ring spacer?

I got my 2mm platinum spacer band from Whiteflash. I like my spacer, because it does the job, it is well made and solid, and it has the right thickness for my rings. My eternity ring is tall, because it has the larger, 15-pt diamonds, so I need a thick enough spacer ring to separate the eternity ring from my Ering. In your case, the pave band is relatively thin, so you may only need a thinner band, say 1.0 to 1.5 mm. You may want a thin spacer ring for proportion reasons or because you do not want the spacer band to be conspicuous. I know some people got their thin spacer rings from Etsy and are happy with the rings. You may want to start another thread to ask others where to get a spacer ring.

Besides thickness, other features of the spacer band to consider are metal type and shape/style. You may want comfort round or knife edge (which helps to make the spacer appear thinner).

My spacer band can be worn as a wedding band (worn alone or with Ering) or as a stacking ring to prevent my Ering from spinning.

By the way there is one more concern that I had but did not mention... I've heard different things so not sure which applies:

My engagement ring is platinum. The De Beers is WHITE GOLD with paved diamonds, while the Tiffany Jazz is platinum.

Will that be an issue? I heard that it is not good to mix metals, but the DeBeers is basically covered with diamonds entirely... will the platinum still wear out the white gold or will the diamonds on the DeBeers basically wear out my platinum? Hahaha

Is it better not to mix metals?

Thanks ladies.

There is no worry about mixing metal in this case.

If you pair the De Beers WG pave ring with your platinum Ering, you may want to wear a thin spacer band in between to protect your Ering platinum from Diamond scratching. The spacer band will get the "pounding", and both your other two rings will be saved. It is much less expensive to replace the spacer ring.

If you pair the Tiffany Jazz band with your platinum Ering, there is no worry, other than normal wear, which will take years and years to show.

Honestly, I would get the Tiffany Jazz band, so I need not be extra careful. The De Beers pave ring is best worn alone. If you plan to wear a pave ring alone, then you may as well get a larger pave ring for more bling.

How thin would I need to go if for spacer ring? I'd like it as soon as possible since I don't want it too visible. Will 0.8mm still work?

I guess 0.8-1.0mm should work.

I have 2mm spacer band which is ok to sandwich between my 2-mm Ering and 3.5mm eternity ring in terms of proportion. In your case, a thinner spacer such as 0.8-1.0 is better, since the pave ring is relatively thin and low.

The DeBeers ring. I love pavé diamond rings.

I don't like the settings of the diamonds in the Jazz rings.

I have a Tiffany shared-setting 3 mm celebration ring as my wedding band. I actually now wear my engagement ring (3 carat with 1.5 carat diamond band) on the left hand, and wedding band on the right. They are such stunning rings that each needs its own hand [emoji1]

If you want it to be "hidden". get a .8 or 1mm. I think it would depend how high up things are. If you have a donut on your e-ring setting, you might want to go with a 1mm simply bec the height will help keep the eating down to a minimum.
