I'd return the BN ones and keep the ones your dad gave you. In their respective boxes I can see that the BN ones are slightly "crisper", but on your ear I don't see a difference. Next to each other even I have a hard time telling the difference. I'd return them and get the pearl earrings you mentioned. :smile1:

Even though the Blue Nile studs look a bit clearer than the original pair, I agree with everyone else that the difference isn't enough to justify that kind of expense, especially considering the original pair came from your father and are therefore an heirloom of sorts. I would definitely keep the originals (sorry to your sister! *LOL*) and spend the refund money on something else. :smile1:

I agree. They are virtually identical, and I just cannot see justifying the expense for a pair that's almost just like the ones you have.

I actually think I PREFER the old ones! Without seeing/knowing performance with light etc, I prefer 4 prong myself and I think they look beautiful on you! Plus they have sentimental value. :)

If you really want to be sure, I think you should spend the $50 and have the old ones appraised properly - at least then you will know what you are dealing with. Then you'll have no regrets.

But if to your eye you really can't see a difference, why waste your money on a second pair? They really are both beautiful!!

Unless they are a terrible cut (they seem to be close in colour you'd said) and really don't reflect light back as nicely, I'd keep them and buy something else!

thank you, thank you for all the input! I have decided to keep my old pair because:
- they're from my dad. This shouldve been reason enough for me to keep them :) i dont know what got into me!
- its true, they appear the same when im wearing them
- i think i will just spend that money getting some other jewelry that i do not have or is not at all similar to the ones i already have!

thanks again :) it's hard sometimes as a lot of people i know do not get my appreciation for some things and why i would spend money on them (bags, jewelry, etc). So when i come here, and people weigh in, it really gives me a more objective outlook on things, and i dont feel judged, lol.

i think most of us have had experience with people saying "you paid how much for that??!" lol.

Back to BN the earrings will go!

You aren't kidding. With my purse fetish, I get that a lot. It makes you feel like a circus sideshow freak "Come one, come all! View the monster who pays exhorbitant amounts of money for purses!"

I would return and spend your money on something different - either pearls or small diamond hoops!

Your old studs look beautiful!

ETA: just saw that you already made a decision. yay!
