Plastic protector on hardware

been guilty of this as well....and then I notice the peeling plastic which I forgot to take off.....yikes!!!!!
To each his own indeed! I left mine on on one of my bags because I wanted to dash out of the house with my brand new birkin and was in a real big hurry and just couldn't be bothered to peel off the plastic!
One day turned into almost one month before I finally took it off (my life can be pretty 'cirque du soleil'!) and my bag looks all the more beautiful without the slips of plastic.
However, like someone else here said if it makes one feel more comfortable then hey....but it does look a million times better off though.

I remember that ungodly sight. How tacky! I wonder how much effort it took to unstick oneself from the plastic, especially in the summertime. Eeck!
Peeling the plastic is one of the most fun parts of buying new stuff! (be it Birkin, or iPhone, or watches, or Kraft sliced cheese, etc etc)
I take mine off but hey, to each his own given that some people may wish to keep their bags pristine for future resale. What i consider an eyesore but serves no purpose? Those price stickers on the soles of shoes lol!

I am curious, all the hardware with Hermes stuff is wrapped with protective plastic covers, do you remove them? If so, immediately or after a certain period ? Eg after you are certain you are keeping the item for good.
If you don't remove it, what's the reason ? For additional protection from scratches ?
Aren't you worried that the plastic would melt in very hot weather and leave sticky residues on the hardware ?

I have had my birkin for about 12 months and I went interstate last week and whilst sitting in the cab I noticed that the plastic was still on, I didn't realise, I just saw that a little bit had curled up and then I checked underneath and it was still on the feet too!

DH gifted me the XL clic clac & he's just chatting about SA had to remove so many stickers. So I thought probably SA tried to make the gift more presentable when I open the gift hehe. Then the other day I was sitting at the passenger side in the car (normally I'm the driver for my kids), & under the bright sun & I notice there's one more sticker at the back. So I took it off & gave my DD who loves sticker LOL!
Hey Loves! Did you try the q-tip/alcohol removal method mentioned earlier in this thread to try to remove the discoloration???
