I've also put an RM bag in the wash and dryer (cold water and low heat). I didn't have any water stains, but the interior was dirty. I didn't notice a difference. The leather was thick and very sturdy.
I've also put an RM bag in the washer (not dryer, I let it air dry), also due to a dirty lining. It was the purple haze leather and it didn't do anything to the leather. The lining didn't come out totally clean either but at least I felt like it was "cleaner" lol. I can't say whether it would have made water stains less visible on the leather since the purple haze is such a dark color, but maybe worth a shot!

did you put the bag directly into the wash? or put it in a pillowcase for dustbag?

I think I put it in a garment bag only because of the hardware, I didn't want it clanking around in the washer. It was the Darling style so there is the big buckle in the front, maybe hardware on your MAB is not as big of a concern.

You've got nothing to lose....in fact, maybe try rubbing some dawn liquid dish soap in the area, then throw it in the wash. I googled it:
This was on HGTV:

Can Dawn dish soap be used on leather?

Cleaning leather is a gentle art that requires the right products. You can seriously damage your leather furniture by using the wrong stuff to clean it. It's widely agreed that plain old dish soap and water are the best cleaners for all types of leather.Jul 29, 2022

Not that this is the same thing but I had a pair of nylon pants that had these oil stains on them and I washed them several times, placed shout on the area...nothing! My husband said, why don't you try dawn dish soap, it gets rid of grease, right? I did it and voila, gonzo!!

good to know it got rid of grease
I doubt anything is going to work on my water stain but I may try washing it....I guess worst case scenario the leather will come out damaged in some way - lose its softness or its sheen maybe

husbands can be helpful. I got a pair of red boots for a low price and I can't seem to love them. DH is going to try dying them black for me.

Don't worry about the softness...you can always condition the leather!! Keep us posted!!
