For whatever reason, most perfumes from that time and earlier have been reformulated. Opium is my one love from the early ‘80’s. I went to purchase a new bottle, and it is not the same. Most of the big Estee
Lauder’s have been reformulated. You expect one thing and get another. Buy an older bottle on EBay.

Hopefully someone can explain to me. For fun, I purchased a scent that I loved 23 years ago. Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue. Haven't smelt since. Sprayed it on today and I remember it. But it smells different than many of the perfumes I have grown to love in the 23 years since. I am not sure if it smells cheap, watered down or simply like a very basic, non complex scent. I don't know what it is but it doesn't seem to be anywhere near what I choose now. It was created in 1996. I am super curious why I don't like it (besides the fact that my preferences have changed of course). Anyone have any insight? :noworry:

I agree with chowlover2 that it has probably been reformulated since you last smelled it, and that's probably the biggest reason. And part may be your tastes changing. Several times when I've tried foods/treats I loved as a child or teen I've not liked them at all, as my tastes have changed.

I bought a 4 pack of Elizabeth Arden perfumes. The stuff I wore in the 90s. 5th Avenue, Sunflowers, Red Door. I thought I'd take a walk down memory lane and stop and smell the perfumes

My favourite scent is anything rose. My all-time favourite rose scented perfumes are Rose d’Ete and Rose Zest by Les Parfums de Rosine, or Delicate Rose by Trussardi.
One of my other all time favourites is Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel

I used to love whatever the Trussardi fragrance in the while opaque bottle my mother wore.

For rose, I like pure Tuberose oil (can't remember the name, I bought it in Grasse yonks ago - I'm sure it would have a been there done that thing for me now) or Roja Dove's (Roja Perfums) Heritage Tuberose, it dries down to something quite sensual.

I am dying to try Raving Rose by Dries van Noten

Unfortunately, lots of scents have been reformulated.
The SA might tell you that’s exactly the same fragrance, that YOU have changed, but an honest one will tell you that the ingredients are not quite what they used to be.

Any recommendations for a similar scent to Byredo Mojave Ghost? I’m obsessed with the opening and ending notes, but it only lasts 2-3 hrs on me. I know Byredo is known for having poor longevity. Any similar scents with better longevity out there?
