People on Ebay make me mad!! :(

I wish there was something like that here in the States, PayPal and eBay are so popular and can be great, but the criminals know how to use it to their advantage. Something needs to be done!

They also do this kind of thing because their alarms go off when you or your buyer change their spending/selling habits. For example, you're always a buyer, have been for years, and now suddenly you're selling half your house. Or your sales have suddenly taken a huge leap upwards from their usual level. It's stupid, and IMO what they're doing should be illegal. I'm about to start selling off a portion of my parents' property, and because of Paypal's history, I'll only be accepting money orders.

My friend had the same problem with PayPal and now I refuse to use them. The reason that happens with the funds is either they used a credit card they were not suppose to and it was reported stolen or the person who paid is saying they did not authorize the transaction. I hate payapl and will never ever use them again.

I have heard of this story before and I know it sounds shady and suspicious, I do believe it is happening. People sell stuff from their own closets and PayPal penalizizes them and puts their account on hold and they do not have access to the funds in there. They need to be going after real criminals, not those that just change their PayPal buying/selling habits.

Paypal got really lousy/shady once eBay bought it. It used to be a really convenient service, now it's a pain in the tush.

And I'm like, yeah, whatever.

From what I have read, before eBay bought it, PayPal was losing money because of this sort of thing, and paying back the victims of crimes. eBay buys it, and measures are taken to make sure that PayPal can not be legally held liable in such situations. They are very insulated legally, smart on their part, but alot of people are learning the hard way that they will not fight very hard in your favor.

I still think that it can be a safe way to exchange money, but you have to VERY careful! I just will not be using it for selling, only to have them take 3% and still allow my money to be stolen.

It's really a sleazy thing for them to do, and while they're convenient, I don't think they're worth the hassle. There's no way for me to prove that my parents collected the various things they did for over 40 years so I won't be using Paypal.

Watch out though. Because paypal is linked with eBay, sometimes eBay will close your account until the paypal issue is resolved. This happened to me. I couldn't prove that I sent some of the items (they were sent to Europe, and the buyers did not choose express mail so I did not have tracking numbers). My paypal account was suspended. Because my paypal account was linked to my eBay account, they also suspended my eBay account.

It's a lose-lose situation.

Paypal will not win the case. Basically the whole appeals process is a sham. They do not pursue it very much because paypal will get their money back somehow, either from you or from the credit card.

There is no seller's protection while using paypal.

After one of the several hour+ conversations I've had with paypal representatives, one representative admitted to this fact.

What's ironic is that one of my friends is friends with one of the founders of paypal (and another friend is friends with another paypal founder) and my SO went to business school with one of the founders of eBay.

After 30 days, the cc co. took the money from PayPal, now PayPal is applealing which takes 75 days. I am not hopeful though, all the horror stories on those websites.

Good luck!! I hope it finds a great home!
