Honestly, 5-5mm is really tiny. I think Charlotte's may be bigger. BUT...I think you should buy Majorica pearls. They are the best fake pearls out there and they look so good. You can buy them online if you choose and you can even choose your clasp etc. I own about 12 different pieces and receive compliments on them all the time. You did not state they had to be real pearls, so I thought this could be a good option. You will not be disappointed and you will receive numerous compliments...trust me.

Thanks, Kellybag, I do own an opera-length necklace of real Akoya pearls, but they're 7 mm.

I just want a smaller, more casual necklace for everyday wear. If I could find some fakes that are 5.5-6 mm, I'd be pretty happy.

Majorica is also quite expensive for fakes...

I second Esiders QVC suggestion. I think the quality of the jewelry on that site is very good and the prices are reasonable. Also, if something does happen they will repair or replace it. I ordered a watch that had sapphire stones around the bezel and one of the stones fell out and they sent me a new watch before I even sent my old one back.

Also, check out Erwin Pearl, they have beautiful glass pearls. On the website right now they have a floating pearl necklace made up of 4mm pearls for $95. It is very pretty. It is under the Bridal Jewelry section.

Look on ebay for Majorica auctions...you can probably steal a strand at that size. Most women want larger pearls these days. I bought a strand 6mm on ebay for less than $20. Trust me. Then, you can always have them restrung and put a real gold clasp on later.

EBAY!!!

I have some black tahitian pendant and earrings (they are the bellas) from american pearl. They are wonderful. They also have a money back guarantee 30 days which helps too.

Good luck!

Thats what I was thinking too. Mine are 7.5 so I am guessing the ones Charlotte had on were either 6.5 or 7.0. I looked at the 5.5 and they were so tiny. They looked odd on me.

hi ladies, which online store would you recommend to buy pearls?
I went to check out Pearlsonly (which Karman got her beautiful pearls) but they do not provide worldwide shipping.

I have been looking at pearls for ages and so far, I only know Mikimoto but its high prices are stopping me from making any purchase.

thanks in advance for any help!

Hi, you may wish to check out the forum - pearl guide. I find it very informative about pearls. Based on what I read todate, some of the reputable online vendors are pearl paradise, pearl outlet, etc who have received very positive comments from the forum members for their products, services and prices. I'm from Singapore and I recently bought 2 necklaces from pearl outlet during their sale .. have yet to receive them.. I'm waiting for some new stock at Pearl Paradise - eyeing the freshadama earrring (10-11mm) which is now out-of-stock...Hope this helps

Hi,

I have been looking at some companies like Pearl Paradise, Pearl Distributor. Outlet etc for their pearls

Pearl Paradise sells pearl strand with a difference of 0.5mm but Pearl Distributor is 1mm.

I am wondering if anyone bought any Freshwater Orient, Freshadama, Hanadama pearl strands from them? They also have mutli color pearl strands. So many choices and I cannot decide. I am fair skin so multi color is great for me too. And oh there's even METALLIC multi color pearl strands.

But i must say that I am very fussy. I cannot accept pearl strands with visible blemishes and the narce area look uneven.

Pls advise and best if u can provide yr own necklace pictures! Thank you!

I have purchased from Pearl Paradise and while I haven't tried the other companies (always tempted by Pearl outlet but find myself going back to PP instead), I can tell you that their pearls are indeed gorgeous.

All my strands are Freshadama grade. One is a multi-coloured exotic metallic, one is actually a metallic white strand which I had to email Jeremy for (it wasn't listed on the website and there was only one in their entire inventory at the time). I am very well pleased with both of them!

In terms of comparison- I also own a single Akoya pendant from Mikimoto. While I'm obviously not an expert by any means in differentiating quality (and comparing freshwater and akoya is like comparing apples to oranges!) the freshadama (particularly the metallics) are definately not lacking!!

My whites have amazing lustre and orient and they can hold their own next to the Mikimoto :) The Mikimoto akoya pearl actually appears pink in comparison pics to the white metallics though it's white against my skin (I guess coz Akoya pearls... Miki or not are pinked?)

Also bought my mother a solid metallic strand last year so I will try to attach the photos I took then. HTH!!

Here's hoping my attempts to attach a few pics work! (They haven't been touched up in any way- all I did was crop and downsize them btw!)
