I haven't really decided yet, called a local jeweler a few days ago to book a time, so I'm quite excited too.

Have you planned to use both pearls or only one of them for the pendant? Having seen the picture of your Lynggaard clasp I think that it would be gorgeous with a short "chain" (maybe 1 cm) with diamonds and than one of the pearls hanging underneath...

pazt : Those earrings are gorgeous!

dreamdoll : Show us all your pearls girl! You are acquiring heaps!:D

Ascella : Can't wait to see the final jewellery from that pair of stunning tahitians!:graucho:

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I'll definite post the end result here :D.

I agree, something like this would have been nice (with a simple chain then):

but I think I want to use both of the pearls. As you suggested one could also do a pendant like this:

but then I would have to drill through one of the pearls, I'm leaning towards half-drill both. I like really this kind of style

or some variant of it.

Japster:
Your necklace looks wonderful! I'll think about this style too. And thanks again for the two pearls, they are absolutely gorgeous!

I was thinking of something similar as the picture above but maybe a little little bit longer "chain" and only one of the pearls. The clasp is so beautiful so I wouldn't make the pendant too "big". Please let us know what you decide upon!

Good point, it's easy get carried away and get something "bigger" than the clasp itself. I'll write an update once I have met the jeweler.

I wanted to post a couple articles on Freshwater Pearl issues in the Industry & the environment because it's become quite a hot button issue. The amount of pollution and overproduction in the Chinese Freshwater Industry had grown out of control- which most attribute to the deregulation of pearl culturing in the early 1990's, but it looks like they are cracking down with more production regulations and limiting or stopping new Farms in certain area.

In the early 90's thousands of pearl farms cropped up with no minimum nacre standards, no restrictions on pollution, waste or production and no regulations in treatment disclosure. We began to see freshwaters with very short shelf lives that would lose their luster after only a few months. Because of the adaptability of the Freshwater mussel and lack of regulatory issues, farmers could grow their crops in the filthiest of conditions... small ponds of polluted waters that would in turn seep into surrounding areas. Now a little background, the cost to start up a freshwater pearl farm is relatively small- It could be done with a shallow muddy pond, rowboat, bamboo, plastic & Styrofoam equipment and chicken or pig manure to give nutrient rich feed to the mussels so they produce faster. Many farmers also lack the knowledge in how to properly chemically treat the pearls post harvest, so the overuse of bleaching treatments and luster treatments would degrade the nacre /pearl quality further. Cleaning systems and water purification is virtually non-existent in FW Farms other than the occasional flushing of flocculent detritus from the mussels. And the dumping of fertilizers and sewage damaged surrounding waters and finally caused local governments to start restricting or banning farming.

The good news is that now many local governments in China are limiting and restricting farming and output and the production is expected to decrease by 1/3 its total amount. Hopefully the emphasis will be on quality rather than quantity.

Here is an article discussing the new restrictions.

^^ THat is what I was thinking too. Although, this seller does have those rectangle and coin pearl necklaces. Those are okay for the price. It is the South Sea pearls that I was wondering about. I figured that was too good to be true. However, I wanted to be safe and ask first. Thank you for responding so quickly!
