hmmm. my image didn't work in the first post... let's see if this works....

okey dokey. that didn't work either! woops! but anyway, they're fab. if you want to take a look you can check them out here:

There are a lot of beautiful pearls here. Not to step on toes on this one, however, but the stock photo shows a near-round to semi-baroque and the other image is a heavily circled strand. I'm just sayin', if the stock is advertised and the second picture delivered, I'd be more than a bit chapped over it.

Here are some examples of different colors/overtones in various pearl varieties. I generally work with the unusual or fancy natural colors so please excuse if this really wasnt what you were looking for.

These are Tahitian Pearls from Pinctada Margaritafera. The middle pair is very platinum- it is almost the look of a South Sea white.

Thanks for the pictures! These pearls are so beautiful!

I saw that, but I'm not too worried about it. :) Like I said, I've ordered from them before and they were fine. I also had a friend order a strand of akoya's and they were beautiful.

Look at it this way.... at least they are putting up different pictures and not just painting a rosy scene that won't pan out.

Can't say I quite follow that one, but if one stands Buckley's chance of getting what you see, I'd be worried. I'd surmise in the world of virtual some things might be appropriate for stock photography, but baroque Tahitian pearls??? That's a hard sell in my book.

The point of my last post was that if the offered item on the site looks like the second image and not like the stock photo, there is a serious difference in value to the strand.

This board has been really helpful to me! Lots of great info. I just received my pearl earrings from the pearloutlet.com. I got the 7.5mm, AAA Akoya studs with a rose overtone. I think they're very pretty. The overtone is subtle but flattering. I paid only $110, which I think is a great bargain. I'm very pleased with them and now I'm considering buying a necklace to go with them from the same store. Also, they got here 2 days after I ordered them!

A few years ago, I bought the same kind of earrings from americanpearl.com and wasn't very happy with them. They were the same grade but didn't have much luster and had kind of a yellow tinge to them, not very pretty. I returned them without any problems. Definitely not worth what I paid for them, about double pearloutlet.com.

Now my dream pearls are the white South Seas on pearlparadise.com.

I just received the necklace from Japster (Elana) today and it is so very pretty! Her packaging and wrapping was amazing! It was like getting a birthday gift when it is not even your birthday. A really great surprise to come home to when I had an icky day. Really impressed and my purchase was not even a large one- she's on my short list for jewelry shopping!

I'll try to take some photos later- the necklace is exactly what I wanted. A really fun, fresh look.

I just received my 8-9mm Freshadamas from PearlParadise and I must say that I am quite disappointed with it... Perhaps I am a pearl noob, but a lot of the pearls doesn't look round enough even to my newbie eyes. Also, I found some nicks and blemishes that I totally didn't expect - perhaps 1 or 2, but not on quite a few of the pearls..

Sorry abt the quality of the pics, I used a point-and-shoot cam. I will try to take clearer pics with my DH's camera this weekend when he's home

Here is my rectangle freshwater strand from Japster. It is meant to have natural blemishes and just feel organic (how I can best describe it). I love it! It has a ton of luster- I am an awful photographer. It won't be my last order from her!
