Erm.. and sorry for my rampant fangirl joy for certain companies... it has been brought to my attention on other forums that it's not cool, but, I think you all understand that I do try to list a variety of companies.

I'm surprised that our longtime member and beloved jeweler Japster's site www.futurefashionista.com, is not listed. For those looking for high-quality Paspaley South Sea Pearls, Elana is amazing, trustworthy, and incredibly knowledgeable about pearls having been in the jewelry business for so many years. Many of us in the Hermes forum are faithful customers. She truly is the best!

Since TPO updated their sale page with more yummy stuff, I couldn't resist and ordered 3 more strands yesterday!!!

They are the gem quality white pearl strand, the gem quality black pearl 7.5mm strand and the multicolor 60" strand!!!:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

[word to self - Have I gone overboard? Or out of my mind?]

And I am still :pout:for having release the pair of SSP earrings back into the pool...when I could have been one proud owner...:girlsigh:

I can second orchids here. I have several Tahitian and SS pearl strands and earring sets from futurefashionista.com. Whenever I wear any of Japster's pearls, I get stopped for compliments several times a day. Her work is gorgeous, and her prices are reasonable.

I haven't personally dealt with the site, that's why it's not on my personal list. If a website isn't on the list, it doesn't mean it's not a good site, I just haven't personally ordered from it/have other PG'ers order from it/etc. The prices on her website are a little higher than what I normally advocate (I sincerely think that some of those items could be found for less), but if anyone wants to order from them/review them/post pictures of the pearls from them, then more power to you.

Callire, out of curiosity, are you a jeweler? Forgive my ignorance, but what is the PG? The Pearl Guide website?

For those looking at South Sea and Tahitian pearls, Japster's pearls are amazing. And she does offer a discount for TPFers, I think the code is in her signature so just look her up. I understand that everyone has different price points, but if you're looking for high-quality hand-crafted work and higher-end South Seas, a lot of us go to Elana. Paspaley is the best known world-producer of high-end South Seas as I'm sure you must know Callire. The Pearl Guide has a GIA Alumni tour of Paspaley here: http://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/pe...13-gia-alumni-pearl-tour-paspaley-pearls.html

Japster is quite the expert on these pearls so I'll let her jump in to elaborate. Here's a not so great picture of the Paspaley South Sea baroque strand from Elana I received for Mother's Day. Taken in very dim natural lighting on a grey day on my MacBook in the worst of lighting conditions and they are quite luminous. I'm expecting delivery of some 16mm silver grey drops later this week and will post better pictures along with my South Sea baroque strand and studs.

Hi, Paspaley does carry a beautiful pearls but similar to many other vendors, they have a range of quality available to the consumers. You can also purchase directly from a Paspaley boutique and they are synonymous to Mikimoto as in they are a well known vendor of south seas where Mikimoto is a well known vendor of akoyas, but you pay a higher price tag for the name. Pearls are generic so a top quality strand from Paspaley is no different from a top quality strand purchased elsewhere, as long as they achieve the same grade that are based on the same standards.

I am not sure if Japster is an authorised dealer of Paspaley pearls but her designs sure look beautiful. As such, it is not surprising that she will have her own niche of clients who are willing to pay for the one of a kind designs.

I am not sure about other vendors, but Pearl Paradise also does carry a good collection of south sea pearls that are top end up too. I have seen strands that carries 6-digits price tags up to half a million bucks on their site, bearing in mind that they charge much lower than retail, the piece for retail would carry a 7-digit price tag. I am pretty sure the Jeremy Shepherd, the owner of Pearl Paradise would be able to access some of magnificent pieces if you see him in person. In addition, Jeremy is a contributer to the GIA course material, is well respected in the industry and he owns the Pearl-Guide forum. For me, my business goes to him, especially since I can create pearl pieces on my own.

Wow all you ladies who managed to snag your pearls from the PP sale, congrats! Fabulous choices !!
