Just a question out of pure curiosity, how did you pay? It's not that I can afford one right here and now, but I am wondering, because my cc limit only goes up to ~30k per month so I'm puzzled as to how people pay for them? :confused1: Do you split them on cards or use a cheque? Credit note?

I look forward to hearing your responses :yes:

Me neither. I don't have a cc, and I don't want one!

I am curious to know what the preferred method of payment is at Hermes for big ticket items. I'm guessing it's AmEx.

Debit cards also have a limit. And if you plan to make a payment that large on Amex, best call ahead and verify your identity or they treat it as a suspicious purchase (as in, much larger than normal, at least for most people!)

Well, I'm sayin' that I don't go a-buying until I metaphorically have cash-in-hand. Otherwise, that's when the bad habits start, and then you're banned.

Interesting. There are similar restrictions about cash transactions in the US. In fact, if you were to go to a US bank and ask to withdraw several thousand in cash, they would give you the hairy eyeball! In the US it is all about drug money.

It's the same over here- I was taking out a large (for me at least!) sum of money out of my account. Bank of Ireland asked me what it was for- I made up something stupid like I was on my holidays or something, but I was so tempted to tell them I had a very expensive cocaine habit, which I don't!


Good topic though- I was thinking the same thing recently as I don't have a cc (but could borrow SO's:idea:)
