A very rainy day today but I however decided to take the plunge and go to the city pawn shop again. I bought the ring I saw last time. It combines so nice with my other rings! This one is a bit more 'simple' but I love it. It has 15 brilliant cut small diamonds with a TCW of 0.60. Difficult to make pics in this weather but I will try to post some later.

Most pawn shops have diamond testers in their shops. It is not an expensive piece of equipment. Just ask. They have to test pieces that come in to them.....nobody depends on the eye alone. There are too many CZs out there. I have worked for huge jewelry companies (their store in St. Thomas, USVI) and I know that even top experts won't trust the eye alone. Also, many jewelry shops ....mostly the privately owned ones, not the chains....have little sections of jewelry that the owner has taken in trade or on consignment and I have seen antique pieces there. :okay::wondering

good work! I am well aware of pawnshops but don't have the time to have a look. You give me a very good idea. You all have great finds. I can better invest something like this. Good work girls.

Oh, goody!!!

And here the ring I bought today on it's own and in combination with my (wedding) rings.
From bottom to top:
- plain band (with the name of one of my little sons), which is part of my wedding set
- my second pawn shop ring
- my newest pawn shop ring!
- my wedding ring with 14 diamonds
- my first pawn shop ring
- a round plain band

I already like to play with these ring and wear them in different combinations.:smile1:

Just out of curiosity... have any of you ladies ever seen an antique engagement ring at a pawn shop? What about loose diamonds? I've never been to a pawn shop before... but, I am IN LOVE with antique jewelry... and would LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE :cloud9::love: for my ering to be an antique diamond!

i guess like anything in a pawn shop, it just depends. i have seen many loose, gorgeous diamonds at a few pawn shops in my area, and i always see antique-styled jewelry/rings, but since i am not an expert, i couldn't be sure. but some are gorgeous and some are just crap.

it's hit or miss with these places, that's for sure.

I got an amazing deal on a pair of small diamond studs at my local pawn shop, they're 14k white gold, and roughly .60ctw and they cost me $86, What a steal! I'll try and get a pic for you later, altough my camera kind of sucks so it doesn't give me the greatest pictures.
