Well, I did eventually creep up to be with Anez, her DM, and Perigord. I am still reeling from the shock of the experience - and I thought I was well prepared, having experienced the first day of the Harrods sale. However, unlike my vow to never go back to the first day of the Harrods sale, I have a feeling I will be back for another H Paris sale.
Mad chaos, a stampeding and determined hoard of people, and nearly experiencing internal crush injuries aside, it was a fun experience akin to a major sporting event. It was made even more fun by the other tPFers there. I was pretty efficient after being advised by seasoned veterans of the sales and hit SLGs first. This year, as Anez said, only 2 items per person were allowed and there was a strictly enforced queuing system. I avoided the jewellery and scarf sections (couldn't bear another queue), but there were no queues for homewares, shoes, or ready to wear. I left with a large cashmere/wool blanket, 2 beach towels, a pair of shoes (ballerinas with medor detail), a double layer jumper for DH (wool outside and lined with cashmere on inside), and an Azap long wallet in rose shocking chevre for me. Because I was early to the SLG queue, there were lots of Kelly Long wallets were still available, but I chose the Azap instead. I was out of the sale in just over an hour.
It was a fantastic time and, despite the physical and mental shock, I'll be back.
