Overall opinions on Moni Moni Splendor

I bought a Moni Moni bag in red from Luna, and sent it back. The leather was too flimsy and it had no lining. I am glad that I didn't keep it-it also had a difference in the shade of red in places, but Lexie yours is an :confused1: extreme! Good luck w/finding a home for it!

OMG, that looks nothing like the one that Paris is carrying! That poor, poor saggy pocket. Is there really that much variation in color on the leather??? And that heart-on-a-string looks like it's a whole 'nother color...

Hmm.

I took some pics that showed the color better. My pics had 3 different shades. I was never going to sell it that way. I'm also going to have to put a low low price on it.

The heart is the same shade. I just can't get a fix on the lighting. The pocket is wrinkled. I guess in time it would pull out when you filled it. I don't know.....this is not what I expected at all. I was expecting Baca leather.

EEEEEEK!!! Tell me...what was I thinking????

If Nirvana was still around maybe I could use this bag while at their concerts. But I wonder if even Courtney Love has a bag like this? And Paris??? What was she thinking? Maybe they ironed her bag first...LOL

Oh well....At least I can always get rid of it... or I would be drowning in a sea of unwanted impulse buying bags.

So what don't you like about it exactly? I thought its quite nice actually! Are you considering of getting rid of it? :graucho:

It's not a horrid bag by any means but I am used to more "finished" purses. I know this bag was meant to be more of a grunge bag that looks very distressed and I guite expected it to be like a Gustto in quality, which it is. I guess the stonewashed leather I don't like. I guess I should have known because I get all crazy when I get a little mark on it.

OK - so Im in the minority it seems - I LOVE bags like this. Big, floppy, smushy, soft leather bags. I esp like the variances in the leather - wear-n-tear aren't so easily visible. If you're going to list this bag - I for one, will definitely be watching. I've wanted one of these forever but there always back-ordered!!

Oh no! When I saw that Lexie had started this thread, my first thought was that I can't imagine her being happy with a Moni Moni. I'm basing that on your distress over how your rose colored Kooba spotted after water or rain (can't remember which).

I think the best thing this brand has going is styling and celebrity placement. But the quality is inconsistent. The bags vary so much you don't know if the bag you're going to get is going to look like Paris' or like someone drooled and slept on it. I saw some really pretty Moni Moni bags on the Nordstrom sale table last January and I saw some awful ones. The inconsistency means it's much better IMHO to buy them in person or from an online retailer that allows returns. I've also occasionally seen Moni Moni bags at TJ Maxx which means they wound up in the liquidation stream somehow.

Like iluvmybags, I like generally like washed and distressed leather smooshy bags. Sissi Rossi makes beautiful ones but they are more expensive.

I agree with cgsprings that the GD 24 is the thing to search out! Does anyone know if US distribution is expanding?

From what I read I did see that they can vary wildly and I got one of the more wrinkled versions. But I definitely can see the advantages. Scuffs or markings just aren't going to matter on this bag. It's definitely a wanted bags. I had 3 questions on it within an hour.

Well you saved me - thanx. I've been scouring the net looking for a great deal on one of these raisins (no, bigger: figs?) I hope you can bail out and thanks for posting!! Now, it's back to searching for Gerard Darel 24!

If you type darel into worldwide ebay, a few 24h bags show up for around $300! I'm scouring for the GD bag of my dreams too!

i love distressed bags and i love my Splendor in Cappucino (a dirty cream color) which is now my throw around bag - weird, considering it is a light colored bag.

i also LOVE Sissi Rossi bags but yes, they're out of my price range right now.

my friend has the Splendor in Caramel and it has aged so well that people from the net who visited her album would leave her msgs begging her to share the name of the brand. i will try to find a pic of her bag and post it.

i guess there's a different type (or several types) of bags for everyone, eh?
