I'm invited to a 50TH birthday party on the 3rd, it's at night but invite says casual. I have a lot of options but what I'd really to wear is a sequin mini. It's in the blue/gray/tourquise family and the patern is big circles, don't think polka dot. I have flat silver sandals with blue stones and few crystals. I'd like to pair it with some kind of casual tank. I also have a large multi srtrand necklace with what looks like light blue sea glass beads, think pearl size beads but lots of strands. What do you think, too dressy? I'll post pictures latter. Thanks.

I think if an invitation says 'casual' you can dress up if you want. If someone wrote 'casual' on a landmark birthday invitation to me, I would think they meant 'come as you are comfortable' and not to panic people into worrying about what they need to wear. Dress in your outfit as planned, IMO, people always love that someone made an effort regardless.

Someone can nearly always 'raise' a dress-code just not 'lower' it ;)
