Very funny! Millions people agree so it must be true. Agreeing with the mass ain’t my thing, it may be yours... which is totally fine.
Millions can’t necessarily pick a leader... one day you’ll learn to appreciate those who think outside the box...

My comments aren't really about the people who supported Oprah. It's about people like you trying to drive things in a certain direction that I don't feel is healthy for society. People like you trying to hide the truth. Our society needs to move away from people like you...people who try to say a strong black woman's speech about empowering all women (and the men who support them) wasn't powerful. This isn't about thinking outside of a box...it's about making the box bigger so that everyone can be welcome and happy inside of it.

There is a huge number of people in the US (and in the world) who feel oppressed and under attack right now because they’re not male, white, straight, and Christian. Oprah’s speech was very empowering to people like me. I don’t necessarily support Oprah running for office, but I appreciate a powerful, intelligent, and articulate person who eloquently expresses an inclusive world view in which I have a place. Enough with the racist BS spewing from 1600 we have to endure everyday.

LOL. You can’t be that clueless, right?
Straight white males have ruled the world and oppressed others for millennia. Open a history book.
I'm not taking about history, I am talking about today.

Also, calling poster names i.e. "clueless" is against the rules here. Bashing someone because they share a different perspective and opinion is telling about the character. My guess you are not advocating that all races be equal.

When you come from where she did to achieve what she’s achieved, THAT alone is empowering, uplifting and gives hope to many. Her speech was very empowering.

Maybe not to you and that’s cool. I’m
Sure some woman woke up the next morning with a renewed look on life from hearing her words.

I know I did **Angela Davis fist on the air**

I actually said this to my husband yesterday. And over what some may call a trivial matter at work... but I won't stay silent and complacent anymore about it. I will voice my opinion.

This has been an enlightening thread.
Grammatical and spelling errors aside, it has stirred up a lot of debate which I think is good.
Each side of the debate has a right to be heard, though maybe this forum is not the place. Or maybe it’s the best place.
If I may quote Dr. King, “No one is free until we’re all free”.

Anything Oprah says will be powerful and meaningful simply because she is a good orator. She understands the power of words and timing and can't not leave an impression when the material is so well presented. That's why she's Oprah.

There was a time when we had standards of our public figures and demanded more of people than being able to string together coherent sentences, if even that.

Oprah's speech was a breath of fresh air not only because of the message but also because she can speak eloquently. Who knew we'd come to a place where that is less common, not the minimum requirement.
