Thanks ladies!

It's so pretty that I'm coming up on two weeks and thinking about taking it off and putting it right back on which I never do lol.

Question... what type of cure times are you guys using for OPI specifically? I have a MelodySusie LED light. I use Gelish base and top coat. I cured the OPI for 30 seconds but when I wiped I had a little bit of red on my wipe. So I'm thinking I need to cure it a bit longer? I'm not too experienced in gel thus far.

I had a light that was similar to yours which I no longer use , but I cured everything with it for at least 45 seconds . I used 60 seconds for darker colors like reds etc. That light is not as powerful as some of the more expensive ones and requires a longer cure time. I hope this helps !

There isn't a infinite shine gelcolor. The infinite shine is a regular polish it's similar to vinylux by CND

OPI INFINITE SHINE
OPI, the leader in nail color innovation, introduces INFINITE SHINE Gel Effects Lacquer System – a nail lacquer system that produces the rich color, intense shine, and lasting wear of gels, without the need for LED light curing or removal by soaking. Thirty beautiful shades in colors that only OPI can deliver in a classic, sophisticated crème finish that applies like a lacquer, removes like a lacquer, and shines until you take it off. 3-step system ensures this with a primer that prevents staining and has real sticking power. 30 Shades featuring time-released pigments that keep color rich. Gloss top coat that creates dimensional shine – all creating the perfect environment for lasting, high-shine, on-trend, fashion-forward nail color.

Oh I misunderstood I guess. I thought it was a new gel nail polish that you don't need a light for. Have either of you tried it?

That's what I wondered. Thanks!
I got an OPI Infinite Shine pedicure once out of curiosity. Lasted for weeks-months. Looked good and shiny for much longer than RNP. But RNP already lasts a pretty long time on my toes anyway, so not sure it is really worth it. I do think Infinite Shine is shinier and more durable than Vinylux (which I also tried as a pedicure once).

I haven't directly compared them to gels. As said above Infinite shine is not a gel. Funny, the pedicurist called it "lite gel" , which is definitely misleading.

Yeah, I was thinking more for toes instead of fingers since I do have the OPI gel and light. I usually redo my toes because of nail growth instead of polish wear. So like you it lasts a while so it probably won't be worth it for me either. I might give one a shot just to check it out. Thanks for the info!

Hi everyone! I just read the whole thread in one sitting and learned so much but I have one question

Does opi top coat lose its shine over time? I always cleaned my tacky coat with acetone and that's why it's not as shiny as it should be?

Should I add one more layer of topcoat and cure for maximum shine?

Oh and I've been using my Sally Hansen led lamp. I've tried one cycle and it most definitely does NOT cure opi polish so I've gone super extreme and done 4 cycles and it's awesome. :)

Hi! I have found that OPI doesn't seem to cure well with DIY LED lamps. Others have reported this as well. My experience was so bad with multiple lamps that I wouldn't recommend using OPI Gelcolor with a nonprofessional lamp at all. I know there are some people who disagree with this, though.

The poor shine could be due to a number of things. Acetone could dull the finish. The gel may not be curing completely (ie due to having the wrong lamp or applying coats too thickly).

I have found that the OPI topcoat isn't as shiny as some others and that the shine dulls a bit over time.

If I were you I would wipe the tacky layer with alcohol.

Then look at the curing issue. Make sure to apply very thin coats.

The fact that you are curing for such a prolonged period of time makes me suspect that the lamp is not curing the polish fully, even if polish seems to be cured by touch or feel. This could not only cause dullness but may put you at risk for developing sensitivities to some of the ingredients in gels.

If you have access to a different lamp, try that. A good quality CFL UV lamp would cure faster than 4 minutes and also would be cheaper than a professional LED lamp.

You could also try another brand of topcoat.

I haven't found adding an extra layer of topcoat increases shine.
Good luck!
