OPI Gelcolor

Hi ladies I cannot wait to get my gelcolors that are on the way to me. However I am going to be using a 60 sec cure lamp from my ciate kit. Will that be okay?

Don't know anything about that lamp. I love Gelcolor but I have found that it doesn't always cure well in smaller LED lamps. Especially dark or bright colors. Even with longer cure times.

This is the kit and lamp

I am looking to invest in the OPI studio lamp eventually but it's quite expensive atm

I just purchased an unbranded 48 watt lamp on Amazon for $89.99. It looks just like the Gelish 18g, but without the name. I know you just purchased a starter kit, but this is a pretty good deal, assuming this lamp stands the test of time. There is no warranty that I'm aware of, but that is the risk I assume for buying unbranded. I've only just used it for the first time yesterday, so I can't really give a well-informed review yet, but the lamp seems to be pretty well built. It seems sturdy, and has a true metal interior, unlike cheaper lamps which have the plastic interiors with chrome coating. It seemed to cure well with 30 seconds. If you're looking on Amazon, make sure you have the right lamp because there are several lamps that look just like the 18g but are only 18 watts or are 48 watts with combined CFL+LCD. Prices of the same lamp may vary, depending on the color.

If you have some swatch sticks , maybe you can do a test cure before doing a whole manicure with your new lamp. I don't have swatch sticks but I use plastic spoons/knives/forks for this sometimes.

AHHH thank you VERY much for that helpful tip! I will be using plastic spoons to try before I do it! Yes it's a shame really because I don't want to fork out hundreds for the OPI lamp as nice as it is it would only be for my person use. Also that ciate kit I bought was already £99 alone....
