Anyone tried to cure a Red Carpet color polish with the gelshine UV-lamp? I wanted to get Bare to be different at two different Sephoras and they were sold out... I'm leaving the US tomorrow and was wondering if I can just grab a Red Carpet polish instead (will be at Ulta tmr morning)

An another note: do all SOG polishes smell the same? like next to nothing when wet and really like nothing when dry. The non existing smell is actually the main reason I'm buying gel color lol

I also wanted to add two colors for reference (from the Gelshine line):

Caffeine fix is the darker one and Curve-aceous the bright red with the shimmer (pics taken one day after applying).

I'm on day 8 now (applied last Wednesday) and there's no chipping so far, only very minimal tipwear on one middle finger. The shine also didn't get any duller (unlike common topcoats that will get many fine scratches after so many days), now I only need to make it super glossy to begin with...

I love it so far, but have yet to see how soaking it off will be... should have grabbed that "Bare to be different" when I had the chance to. But I ordered a regular OPI Gelcolor in "Passion" for the nude look now

Well I re-did my mani last night making sure to scrub on the base (I think I should go even a bit thinner but I find the OPI base a little more difficult to work with than Gelish)/dry brush as well as applying the color coats to the tips first because I take a while to apply the product. I also tried your trick to warm up the gels. I have had much better results with the application! Now I am waiting to see how they wear:) I do think warming up the bottles makes a big difference. When I shook them, I could feel it moving around in the bottle much more fluid. Thanks for all the input!

No problem. I am glad my limited knowledge was useful and that you less shrinkage.

I just noticed a possible shrinkage situation with OPI. I did my Mom's nails with a color I have used on myself with no shrinkage before. I cured using her Sensationail lamp. Is seemed to cure completely without issue but I did notice a little cuticle area shrinkage. I am not sure if the difference was lamp or nail shape etc. I will try to narrow the other factors and try again and see if it is the lamp.

Can anyone tell me if "Every Month is Oktoberfest" looks purple on your nails or is it more of a ruby red? I've seen it on the OPI swatch thread and it looks purple, but searched a review on it somewhere else and it looked to be more of a dark red.

I'm pretty sure it's purple and is a dupe for LeChat Queen Fierce.

I'm wearing it on my toes now. It looks more purple than red. It looks like a pretty good dupe for the RNP version.

Here are two pictures of me wearing it. In the first pic, the shimmer isn't visible at all, and it's definitely purple. In the second, the shimmer is more visible and glows red a little bit, but the polish overall still looks purple.

(Please excuse the bad pictures. I took these forever and never posted them because they're not that good.)

Yep, it looks exactly like your pictures.... Very true to life. Definitely purple, with a 'lively' red shimmer.

I think this is is my favourite colour of all my sogs!!!

RCM should cure no problem with the UV lamp. Most SOG polishes have little to no odor, I did order some cheaper versions from China, and they had a very strong 'rubber' type odor. I don't use them anymore, except maybe as accent dots for nail art.

Wow. Except for the fact that it's purplish, that looks like a dead ringer for Geleration's Notorious.

All mine smell if you stick your nose up close! Certain brands seem to have smells that "waft" in the air more than others, though... I think RCM was one that was a little smelly for me, actually.

I haven't brought them up that close lately! The last time I did it, I ended up with polish on the tip of my nose. Good thing I noticed it before it cured, as I have a bad habit of checking to see if the LED light is on..and if my fingers are laying flat.. Once I get the 18G lamp (please mr postman!) I won't have to worry about having a full 5 finger + nose cure... as the top of the 18g closes down to protect your eyes (and nose).

 I haven't had that happen to me... yet!

Good luck with your new lamp (and may you have a speedy delivery). The one thing that annoys me with my light is that it kind of weirds out my eyes if I look at it for more than a few seconds.
