Has anyone had glazing issues with their steamer? The black and magnolia pm CS I bought last year was cracking along the sides of the top of the bag so I brought it to the boutique and exchanged it for a black one. I figured if it cracks again at least it won’t be noticeable :-s

I am in the hunt for a basic black everyday leather bag. I love the classic City Steamer. For you ladies who have the steamer in leather, do you think it works as an every day bag? I love the structure of the bag, but I worry about that structure being so rigid that it makes accessing items in the bag not as easy as a less structured bag. I also have concerns about the glazing as well as corner wear. Any experiences you can share - positive or negative - are greatly appreciated!

I am not sure the city steamer can be an everyday bag. It is pretty heavy and I do not even pack a lot of stuff. Definitely get a thicker strap if you plan to use it frequently. The weight plus the strap that comes with it is not a good combo. I found myself hand carrying it often.
Glazing wise with mine I had the handles repaired because of peeling. I am thinking mine was just part of the bad glazing batch that plagued several bag models made 4-5 years ago. Other than that I did not really see any wear.

If you need a larger steamer I can see it getting heavy. That’s why I went with the smallest because I can’t carry heavy bags. I will likely use this on the weekend mostly. Maybe once or twice during the week. My speedy b 25 is my daily workhorse. But if you don’t carry much you could use it everyday. it is definitely a structured well made bag. I can’t speak to how durable it is over many years since I just got mine. But I would bet it is pretty tough. It will probably show some wear on the corners and edges but that is expected for a full leather bag. I don’t expect to start splitting or anything like that.

Suburbachic, thanks so much for your great information! I may look for another bag. :)
