Hello TPF members,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience as to purchasing online from Cartier? If so, does the online site charge you taxes?!?! If not then I'd rather purchase online! TIA!!!

depends on where you live! There is no Cartier boutique in Michigan so I wasn't charged taxes for online purchases. their website is glitchy and its super frustrating though - i was exchanging my RG love bracelet for YG and my new order wouldn't show up in my account so i was really nervous and anxious everyday calling them all the time - for a purchase that large, they really should be able to tell me EXACTLY what's going on and it should be showing up on my end too when i log in. they kept telling me that my new bracelet is ready to leave the warehouse for a week straight but couldn't tell me when. now that i got an email saying that its being shipped i saw that they gave me standard delivery instead of express delivery (which i had for my original order and is free with a purchase that large) so i called them again today to see if they could switch my delivery option if it hasnt left yet and the woman snapped at me saying i should be happy that its coming sooner than originally expected (for the returned bracelet to go through quality assurance)... whatever the case is - my first bracelet was overnighted to me, i dont understand why i have to wait 5 days for the exchanged product to go through transit AFTER how many days they needed to do "quality assurance". sure i'm being a brat but hello i spent almost 6 grand! the least they can do is get it to me as fast as possible.

lol k im done ranting all over your thread!

IF you order from Cartier Manhasset there is no sales tax (outside of NY) on the items either as it is part of London Jewelers, which is only a store in NY, hence no sales tax for the other 49 states.

^Sorry, I'm confused - Is there a Cartier boutique in Manhasset? If they're a part of something called London Jewelers, does that mean this boutique only sells watches as an auth. dealer, or is this an actual brick & mortar Cartier (that sells jewelry, not just watches) that somehow doesn't charge tax to out-of-staters?

Make that no sales tax is collected by the vendor - but, at least in California, you still OWE the tax. There ain't no free lunch from sales tax just by purchainsg on line from out of state.

Since moving to the midwest from New York, going to a Cartier store directly is no longer a subway/cab ride away option.

My husband and I ordered his Love wedding band from our favorite SA last year and I am now looking to order a diamond Love bracelet for myself. The ring didn't phase me, but, a potential $10k+ item does.

Has anyone had a more expensive piece shipped before?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :smile1:

No, but you shouldn't have any problems as long as you're sure you know what size to order. If I were you I wouldn't buy a LOVE bracelet online unless I had tried one on in person first to be sure of my size.

I've ordered several love bracelets via the online boutique. They are wonderful there. They also have a 30 day return policy (versus exchange in store) which is great. Good luck!

I did order two loves over the phone (I didn't know which size to get). When I returned the one I didn't keep, it took FOREVER to receive the credit back (a full month). I thought this was rather excessive but other than that, it was a great experience...

Thanks for all the responses! I got myself sized for the Clou/Love bracelets back before leaving NYC. I had intended all along to get a bracelet to match my husbands Love wedding band (I went with a Tiffany one I preferred for mine, so bracelet will tie it all together :graucho:)

I think my husband squirreled it away, but, I know we received papers with his Love band. I assume the bracelets come with the same. Is there a serial number that will match what they put on the documentation?

I ordered my love bracelet at their flagship store in nyc but had it shipped out of state to save on sales tax. It came beautifully packaged, with the bracelet and the screw separately packaged in plastic inside a red pouch, the red box wrapped in paper and sealed with a wax stamp, and the paper certificate backed by a red cushy backing that I don't know how better to describe. Hope this helps!

I bought my husband's platinum wedding band via phone from a California Cartier boutique , because we do not have a Cartier store in Seattle. They were very helpful in making sure that the band was the correct one (the thickest option, with other specifications from the hubby). The item was about $5,000 at the time, but I had no concern and it arrived quickly, beautifully and luxuriously packaged, and triple padded with boxes and papers. Needless to say, both the outer and inner Cartier boxes were in perfect condition, and of course the ring was perfect. I would not hesitate to order by phone and have it shipped!

Okay, so, the big day is tomorrow when I order. I still can't decide between going with my out of state SA again (like with my husbands wedding band,) or doing it online. Just checking to make sure - if there IS a problem with a phone order, you can return via mail, correct?

I've bought something pricey via phone and had return it using special mail. Not that big of a deal. Not sure what cartier's policy is but you should get it in writing. Also, do you save on sales tax both ways??
