Two questions for my fellow Canadians:

1. Does anyone know the price for a Birkin 35 in Chevre and in Epsom, Canadian dollars SVP? (I could not find this listed on the 2015 Hermes Hand/Travel/SLGS thread.)

2. Is purchasing in Europe still less than purchasing in Canada, given our weaker $ and welcome home duty and taxes?

Thank you!

Hi honhon, I don't think it is. The Canadian dollar is weak right now compared the other global currencies (pound, USD and euro) and when we re-enter the country we are "welcomed home" with taxes (living in QC, almost 15%) and duty (high for luxury goods) and sometimes a little side eye from customs officers wanting to know what else we have.

The last time I purchased a major item outside of the country (LV in Paris several years ago) the experience was great until I got home and learned what they "could" have charged me. I walked away with a bill for the taxes, a lecture and a thank you for declaring my purchase. I've called Customs Canada to get the scoop, but wasn't able to get a certain answer.

This is why I thought to post the question to see if anyone has purchased recently while in Europe and what the damage was upon return to Canada.

This will happen all the time - esp the customs bill, the lecture and really esp. the side eye. It is usuallly 25% for tax & duty (15% for tax + 10% for duty). But they also have the right to consficate it as well esp. if not declared. I have been also told that you are not allowed to go over your allotment regardless if you claim it or not. So really, it "best" to purchase at home. :death:
