I bought a Birkin 35 last month for 7400 euros. The Vat refund is supposed to be 10%, but the amount I actually received was around 8.5% or 9%. I think this is because Global Blue takes out a fee and because of the exchange rate fluctuation.

i believe the refund after the global blue commission is 10% for h stores. the VAT refund amount should be stated your VAT refund form (that's the amount that global should be refunding you in euro). the reason why you are getting less than 10% is because the euro are stronger lately (compared to the day you bought it). i had some purchases where global blue send me a check even though i specified credit card refund. based on my experience, the amount refund through credit card seems to be faster and better than check sent by global blue. i hope this hopes

I will take a look at my receipts and double check. I got my refund via credit card and it took around 3 weeks.

Can anyone pls give me an indication what a fair price would be for apre-loved Kelly 32, box leather, palladium hardware, L-stamp. Only gently used apart from one scratch at the front.
If this is the wrong thread I apologise (and would appreciate a pointer where it is appropriate to ask such a question). TIA!

Here is a price breakdown of the advantage of buying Hermes in the EU.

Price in the USA for a B35 Clemence is $11,900 plus sales tax will be $12,882

In the EU the price is 7,400 Euros minus the 10% VAT refund is 6,600 Euros which is $7,458 (the rate was just under $1.13 USD per Euro at time of purchase using a no foreign transaction fee credit card)

$12,882 cost in the US vs. $7,458 in the EU =a whopping $5,424 savings

You must also account for US duty which is 10% for leather goods but in my experience they never take the whole amount (or anything at all) if you are patient and courteous.

Also, a side note- some boutiques are no longer accepting copies of passports if you purchase a Birkin or Kelly they need to see original passports as they have received altered copies.
