I think I read somewhere that there were 235 pieces up for auction and they sold for $12 milllion?? Is that true? If so, that's not a lot considering the size of some of those stones...they must be really poor quality stones.

There was an interview probably around 10 or so years ago when Athina was 14 and she said that if she could give away the Onassis fortune and burn it all, she would. She also said she had a great aversion to anything Greek. I think she kind of seems angry at that part of her history. If she still feels that way now, it could be part of the reason she is selling them. Who knows?
