I think she will regret this when she is 40+.
If she doesn't need the money, what is the point? Unless she gives it to charity.
Many women grow into loving jewelry & diamonds.

That's what I thought too! I think it's so rude.. but maybe her mother has tons more jewelry that she's keeping. Or the money will go to charity.. either way, I could never do that.

Look, her life really hasn't been all smooth riding, despite the money. Her mother was known for partying and drugs and the cause of death had something to do w an overdose if I recall correctly. Her father doesn't seem to have been much better. You have to go way back to the 70's and 80's to do your "research". The Onassis story is one Greek tragedy.

There are some beautiful pieces up for auction and though many of you think it's wrong for her to rid herself of them I'm sure she has her reasons and that's all that really matters.Athina has every right to do as she pleases with the items and wealth she inherited from her mothers estate.

This young woman may have inherited exquisite jewels and the means to never want for anything of a material nature from her mother but she also inherited a host of tragic memories that came along for the ride in regards to her mothers life of unhappiness.
Her mother was considered a ugly duckling and spent her youth wanting to be loved for something other than her wealth.Christina's quest caused her to endured four failed marriages, she was divorced from Athina's father at the time of her death.

I think it's incredibly rude for anyone to refer to Athina as a ***** when they know very little if anything regarding the family history from which she inherited this wealth.

This link regarding her mother may help shed some light behind Athina's actions.

This is exactly what I was thinking, but couldn't quite find the words. Perhaps some people who posted criticism are [personally] acquainted with the family, but if not, who's to say that what she's doing is wrong? We don't know if she's keeping any other jewels from her mother, or what her motives are for auctioning off these jewels.

Anyway, wow! What gorgeous jewelry. Now if only I could find a way to make a few million dollars, and quick!

I'm sorry if I was a bit harsh on Athina, but at least these items are from her real mother not step mother whatsoever. If it were to be her father's jewels I'd understand why she'd auction it away, but because of her mother's behaviors, bad habits etc..she should also consider why her mother turned out that way. Especially if her mother left her when she was 3 years old, there will be more reasons for her to keep it if I were to be her. Writing a will at the age of 10 is not really realistic. Athina once said "no money, no trouble." may she not know what others are like with "no money, more troubles." Regardless, I was never fond of Athina and this action of hers made me even more disappointed.

THe jewels are mind blowing!
