I was so distracted whenever she was onscreen during the Lifetime documentary that aired this weekend. I am curious if Sydney and Justin will reconnect with them now that their father has passed.I know....she looks freakish
I’m guessing probably not. They were small children when their mother was murdered and likely barely remember her sisters and their cousins. They are 38 and 35 now and they have their own families. If the families wanted to reconnect (on either side) they didn’t need to wait until OJ was dead. They could have reconnected while he was in prison for nine years for robbery, for example. Sydney and Justin live in Florida while their father lived in Las Vegas, so it’s not like he knew who they were with on a day-to-day basis.I was so distracted whenever she was onscreen during the Lifetime documentary that aired this weekend. So people are saying she was involved in a car accident and had to have reconstructive surgery.Yikes! You're not kidding! Especially "Dominique", I believe, almost frightening, botched?
Sydney and Justin kept in touch with their cousins and their aunt Dominique.I’m guessing probably not. If I remember correctly Sydney appeared to know he did it at the time. Not sure about her brother, he was only 5 then. They had to repress their feelings and never show anything that would trigger their father’s temper. It must have been a very strange childhood, having to pretend that they didn’t know until maybe they somehow convinced themselves.Sydney and Justin kept in touch with their cousins and their aunt Dominique.
OJ poisoned them against anyone who knew he was guilty.
Hence Dominique’s reluctance to say that he did it.
I know children who are in that situation, they are convinced their father was innocent. If I remember correctly Sydney appeared to know he did it at the time. They touch on that in the documentary. Especially Dominique’s experience with the children, it was just heartbreaking. It’s a survival mechanism. The mind does what it must to protect itself.I know children who are in that situation, they are convinced their father was innocent.
Dateline and 48 Hours is a guilty pleasure. It's amazing how many kids see one parent in court on trial for murdering the other parent and they stand by the parent when it is beyond obvious that they are guilty. Sometimes they come around and see the truth and other times, they cling on until they escort the convicted murderer out in handcuffs or longer. It's kind of pathetic. It’s a survival mechanism. Pathetic is unfair. You have no idea the level of trauma that being essentially orphaned in this way can bring onto someone. Let alone having to grapple with the idea that one of the most foundational and important people in your life is capable of this type of behaviour. For some people that thought is so destabilizing their brain just refuses to accept it, as a protective mechanism, no matter what the evidence is to the contrary.Dateline and 48 Hours is a guilty pleasure. I agree. You are right. But I still feel for them. I don't think they are bad people.Pathetic is unfair. And let’s not forget that a lot of people refused to believe (and continue to refuse to believe) that OJ was guilty. Including a very important twelve. It was a very challenging time. So the kids could be forgiven for clinging to hope, I think.
I feel so sorry for the children. I also feel sorry that Denise’s relationship with them suffered bc she was advocating for her sister.Pathetic is unfair.
