thank you for your intel!
Love the Gabrielles, am torn about the duffel. It's so _bright_ (especially next to the calm G's).
Your opinion?
I agree with you, they are too bright for me also. A nice blue, grey or tan with subtle contrast would be good. Goyard and Moreau have some great color combos (and some too bright too) that would be nicely copied by M. I think they went for the bright LV colors instead. The following comment is my opinion about the bright colored canvas pieces. If you love them, please continue loving them and don’t let my opinion sway you.
Okay, the bright canvas pieces look fun, but they’re not my style. I find them glaring. I’m almost sixty and not trendy. I like classic, subtle looks.
I also believe the color/print shouldn’t take away from a design, it should enhance its lines and craftsmanship. Glancing at the larger bright monogram pieces, I see the color, not the design.
My design opinion is to either have the bright color in a plain-ish leather, canvas, or a less vibrant monogram.
How nice it would’ve been to have a plain duffel in Gabrielle Casual’s color combos. Now that I think about it, the big bags just have too much monogram for my taste.
I like the Gabrielle bags I posted with the duffel. I believe the Gabrielle Casual is a lovely addition to my favorite MOYNAT line.

Can you be more specific about the "feel" of the leather? As far as the smell goes, my older Taurillon bags don't really smell like anything anymore. (New is a different story but over time....)Hi,
I took a long break from my handbag obsession and haven’t been active on the forum for quite a while, but then I fell in love with Moynat and went ahead and bought my first - this preloved Réjane:
https://www.cornerluxe.com/fr/vente-sacs-a-main/54026--sac-a-main-moynat-paris-rejane-pm-ci0636.html
I have bought items from this seller - located in Paris - a number of times before and always been happy, so had full confidence in them. However, the bag has just arrived and while I think the workmanship looks fine, I expected that lovely smell of leather so many of you have been mentioning and it doesn’t really smell of anything at all. Also, I am not entirely sure what to make of how the surface feels to the touch.
So I thought I would ask for your advice. For my own peace of mind, I should probably try to have the bag independently authenticated, although I don’t expect this to be easy. Does anyone know if there is somewhere I could turn? For this particular brand, Αuthenticate4U wouldn’t really be an alternative, I should think.
Judging from the Authenticate This Master Thread, there has actually been a dedicated tPF Authenticate This Moynat thread, but the only link I found doesn’t seem to work. Is there a suitable new thread to post a request in, or maybe a general one? (Please forgive me for being a bit rusty on here …)
Many thanks in advance for any ideas! And I love the Gabrielles, too (aah, the clutches!)
Thank you ever so much for putting me at a bit more ease. I think you might be right, I have a battered old Birkin in Taurillon (Clémence) and frankly it doesn’t smell much either. Although I did read somewhere that Moynat and Hermès might use the same tanneries, it is probably not an ideal comparison, but still. I don’t know the manufacturing year of the Réjane - the seller didn’t either - but it won’t be as old by far. I could always tell myself that it is pre-2020, though, that would be good! 😊Can you be more specific about the "feel" of the leather? I don't see any red flags in your bag's listing photos. IMO if you are confident in the seller (and happy with the bag) you are very likely OK. (And sorry I don't know of a Moynat authenticator.)
Hi Mousy! Would you know what color name is the light blue one? TIA!
Hiya! Anyone know if the old Envelope PC and PP are still being sold/produced? And also, are they still continuing the old monogram, or just the new black/yellow/blue ones that you’ve all kindly posted? thanks! (I bought the coolest envelope PP a few months back in the bronze/black color way and would love to get a matching PC - or at least one and the same monogram.)
I’m too lazy to type today so I’ll just post Moynat’s responses to your questions.Hi all! Does any one know how Carat Leather age? I just blind bought a Gabrielle BB (no store in my country). It is gorgeous. The leather is very matte however and I didn’t expect that. Does it get shinier, darker and/or patina’d over time? Many thanks in advance.
OMG, so helpful, above and beyond. Thank you so much!I’m too lazy to type today so I’ll just post Moynat’s responses to your questions.
