I’m wondering if any of you might be able to help me. I recently bought this enamel Moynat Gabrielle necklace on the resale market (because, well, how could I not???) but I know nothing about it. I am curious if any TPF Moynat experts might have a bit of background on this little piece. I saw a photo from 2018 of a woman wearing the vanity box version (post 1841 - link:

but beyond that I have never seen these anywhere. Does anyone know the story behind this little gems? Were they ever sold to the public? Secondly, what would you do with it? A necklace? A bag charm? Something else?

It seems to be a very well made, weighty piece with quite a bit of detail. Any thoughts anyone might have on it would be so appreciated. Thanks!

I had one of the square trunk ones. Very heavy, enamel, nicely made. I believe they were sold as "sautoirs" but I used mine as a charm, wrapping the long strap however many times needed to make the drop an appropriately shorter length.

Interesting idea, but I found the sharp edges to be too risky for damaging a bag and didn't want to wear it as a necklace. It's a cool and well-made piece if you have the right use for it.

I think that they only did one batch of these - my impression was that Ramesh was experimenting.

Thank you so much for your post, I really appreciate it.

I am definitely struggling with it a bit…while I certainly appreciate everything about it, I’m just not quite sure what to do with it. Hmmmmm….

It's a blessings for us to have witnessed the era when all the Moynat pieces (even the SLD!!) being produced in France. Apparently the new management underestimates how we treasure the craftsmanship of the Artelier (or they just don't care as long as the sales profile looks good?). I'm lucky enough to have placed a Gabrielle SO in Sept 2022 and I'm super excited to have it unboxed soon!! Will post some photos of the gem when it arrives if you are interested
I think LVMH taking over Moynat has lead to the company’s new-ish atelier choices. When Bernard Arnault personally owned the company, he wanted an intimate highest-quality French boutique company. Now, it’s under a big umbrella.

If I am remembering correctly, when they first started up the atelier was in the larger Paris region but outside of the city. It was a big deal when they established an atelier a couple of years later very near the maison - Ramesh was able to closely collaborate with the artisans.

Knightly does not seem to have such concerns.
You’re correct. At the very start, Ramesh and one other craftsman made the bags. Once the designs were green-lighted , there were approximately twelve. Eventually, the atelier grew as the company grew, until LVMH took over.

From my understanding and having been there recently, the atelier is still in place and most models are still produced in France. I also haven’t noticed a change in production countries mentioned in the description of each model on the website (so far). I was also happy to see well made floor models that were in line with the bags I own from Ramesh‘s time, and personally could not detect a difference with the Réjanes and Gabrielles in stock.
I think Moynat has added Spain to its list of manufacturing countries.

I bought this Oh Tote Ruban from the LVMH owned website, 24S.com, a few years ago during the pandemic. I had gone to the SCP boutique but they didn't have the pm at the time so I ordered it online. This was before Moynat.com was up and running. But I was disappointed when I received the bag because I feel that the leather looks very plasticky. Sometimes I wonder if LVMH is trying to cut corners and deliberately used fake leather. The canvas had held up well and I use this bag often, but since then I've bought 2 Goyards and just ordered a Fauré Le Page canvas bag

I was a little uncertain about the materials too, but I have used it for two trips now and I am very pleased with it. You're not going to see it everywhere like other bags. I also have an FLP Daily Battle in the small size that I use as an everyday bag. I love it but wanted something different for a new travel tote.

I continue to reach for my Quattro N/S Tote again and again. It is really the workhorse of my collection because it's the perfect size, can be carried on my shoulder, or by hand, and is secure because it's deep, but not a black hole. And I grab my little Gabby for going out too. Even with lots of other choices, these are the bags that I continue to gravitate to. That said, are they bringing back the Quattro as someone wrote a few weeks ago? I would love to get another one is a brighter color.
