Wow! That’s a real chameleon color right there. I would have sworn it was purple. Same as their site! How do you like the material? It’s been a little bit of a discussion on the board.
It really is actually. I’d say 50% of the time the purply undertones dominate. As far as the canvas itself, I would say somewhere in between Louis Vuitton canvas and Goyardine. Goyardine is a lot thinner and shinier. I just got it yesterday so I can’t speak too much on durability yet. I LOVE the thick leather chaps on the Moreau. They statements in their own right.

Are all bags still made in France or are they being made in Italy? I couldn’t find the information on the website, just wondering.
I am almost certain it is 100 percent made in France based on my research in Japanese (almost half of their flagship stores are in Tokyo). Also, the pouch that came with my tote that was purchase last fall says made in France :)

So a few months ago I was giving my boyfriend an unwanted lesson on how the majority of luxury leather houses have their stuff made in Italy, France, and Spain. I went to show him how all my Moreau items are stamped “Made in France” until I got to my white double pouch on a crossbody strap (Calais) and that one is stamped that it’s made in Spain. I do think that the new coated canvas bags are also made in Italy or Spain.

Side note: after finding that Moreau item made in Spain, I went through other stuff and found my Faure Le Page gun-shaped pouch is Spanish and my Loewe cushion tote is made in Portugal!

Oh my goodness, I stand corrected! Thank you so much for this information . I need to let my mom know since she’s a huge Moreau fan and I’m still new to this brand :) lol

That’s what I thought! It seems more of their handbags are made elsewhere. I also wonder if the newer models are saddled stitched or machine stitched.

Alright so I’ve actually been thinking about this quite a bit because I started noticing some differences but I didn’t know how to organically say it without sounding completely unhinged.

So, I’ve noticed quite a change in the way they have done their business and so I did a shallow dive and found that the business has been sold twice since being rebooted, if you will. I believe the first owner had the $$$ and aspirations to turn Moreau into an Hermes competitor (and seemed to align somewhat with the reboot of Moynat as well). I think the timeline went like this:
-1st guy reboots the brand; everything is very luxe and word of mouth. This was a passion for this guy.
-2nd owner took away the super high end exotics and custom bag options and I believe this is when some stuff started going to Italy and Spain for production.
-3rd owner is trying to make the company much more profitable and cutting costs with a lot of things. They closed boutiques and started pushing the new coated canvas over the jacquard. The stitching now seems to be machine-stitched on small SLG’s (check out the cardholder with the zip top) and the more entry level bags (handles on the St Tropez line).

Mind you none of this is based on anything other than me piecing info together from two trade publications and from their social media. I think I’m gonna stick to finding some of their older bags on resale. Luckily, I have found some crazy deals on Moreau stateside.

I think you are right! Thanks for all the info, very interesting!

Thanks for the info. I love the brand and hope they don't reduce the quality and continue to gain traction. There's been a lot of crazy deals online since the London store closure.

Sorry all I guess I wasn't supposed to share the info I got from the SA. It was meant as a private sale.
I went to the store recently in Paris and bc I had bought something in the past, he offered me the promotion so maybe it applies to repeat customers. I didn't buy anything though since I already have "enough" bags for now
