Hi! Did anyone get the Duffle 16, and if so, how thick would you say the leather is? I have a Legacy 2012 duffle, and a 1941 Duffle 20, and find the Legacy leather to be thicker than the 1941 glove-tanned leather. Is the leather on the 16 the same as either of those, or is it more like the (new) Rambler? I love the duffle shape, and want the leather to be thick like the Rambler (to be softened with wear). Since it's online only, I can't go into the store to check it out.
I have the legacy duffle, 1941 duffles in glovetanned and pebbled leather and the new 16. I find them to be all fairly similar. I have the larger 1941 duffle in glovetanned and not the 20 and I would say it’s the stiffest initially.
Ok, thank you. Would you say the 16 feels thicker than the 1941 though? Both my Legacy and 1941 are soft and puddle when set down, but I would say the Legacy leather is thicker. I know this may be ridiculous of me, but sometimes the newer glove-tanned leathers feel thin (I don't want to say flimsy), and I want a duffle that is closer to the vintage in leather quality.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you Jessica.berman. I wore my green duffle 16 today and I feel the leather is close to the same thickness as the legacy and the smooth glovetanned 1941 duffle. If there is difference, I would say it is minimal. I really love the size and shape of the 16 too. I did get a 20 in the heather gray now that I remember but the rest are the bigger size. I hope I don't steer you wrong with my assessment! Good luck deciding!
Thank you for checking for me, @Wendyann7!! It makes me feel even better about deciding to go for a vintage Maggie duffle I found on eBay instead since what I really want is that super thick leather from the vintage bags.

Terrible news on the vintage front...the bag, while in very very good condition, reeks of old cigarette smoke. I can't even keep it in my house. I haven't picked up any charcoal filters yet and need to get more baking soda to attempt to get the smell out.
I haven't done anything to it yet other than stuffing it with newspaper. What kind of vinegar should I use, and how would I apply it? It really is in wonderful shape, so if I can get the smell out I would be able to actually carry it. I lightly scanned the rehab thread to see about what to do, but I have only ever used cleaner and conditioner to buff out scratches and clean up the exteriors of my bags.
Sometimes I'll hang the bag outdoors in the shade for a few weeks. It usually helps. After the odor dissipates some, then I'll try other measures. A vinegar soak would involve a bath and a complete rehab.
