I'm a huge fan of the classic Disney characters like these but that barrel bag is sooooo small it's just not functional for $450.

Yes, and I agree that the top zipper can be an issue on a smallish bag.

For the heck of it I compared it to my 2001 remake of the Cashin original, style 9701. The Glazed Roll Bag/Satchel not only has lovely leather (water buffalo hide!) but actually IS glazed and in one or two of the colors are almost irridescent. It's also a LOT bigger - 12 x 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 measured at the outer seams, and even better for very tall Coachies who still want a crossbody bag, the original strap can extend to 52 inches including the clips (The website photo says 46 inches but I just measured mine).

I own 2 of them and LOVE them. The new one, Disney or no Disney, doesn't come close to it. If the two flat outside pockets were a bit deeper so they could actually hold a full set of car and house keys it would be perfect.. No offense meant to anyone who loves the new version, but often older really is better.

There's a patchwork version with Dumbo I saw in another thread. It is another Bonnie Cashin design. It looks tiny.

I agree with you there, it's too small. I do like the Dumbo one though. I wish I could bu that bag charm off the bag.

I hope they'll do separate bag charms of the characters, I'd for sure get the Dumbo one!
