I recently sent two bags off for consignment, a small cervo loop hobo (I prefer the larger size) and the Plisse Veneta that Modern Leather had conditioned and treated. For my daily needs, an open-top bag has been much more convenient, and I was keeping the Veneta half zipped and not able to get into it as easily.

So far, I'm not missing them, and I'm hoping continued curating will help me use the bags I enjoy the most.

Hi,
Can you please share our opinions about the durability of Bottega Veneta bags? I am really in love with them visually but I keep having fear about durability. When I browse preloved offers, they often look so worn out, lose shape, the color seems to rub off... Are there specific models that you can recommend in terms of durability? Thank you :sunshine:

My favorites are the cervo bags. They are a thick pebbled leather. They aren't quite as durable as other pebbled leather I've owned. It might vary by bag and year. I have a 2009 cervo tote that has held up beautifully. I also have a vintage intrecciato bag that looked new when I bought it used and still looks new. I can't speak to how it would hold up under heavy wear as I don't use it much. There are some discussions in other threads about how most of the older bags hold up a lot better than the new ones.

If you don’t mind preowned the older pre 2019 Tomas Maier era bags are very well made. The styling is a bit different from the current versions but the colors and leathers are still beautiful. There is a huge reference library of older styles on this forum.

Thats wonderful you’ve been able to let go of bags that aren’t quite working for you. It can be so difficult to let go of nice bags! Its good to periodically curate and clear out. I’ve been working on that too.

Good morning! I have been eyeing a couple of BV men's wallets for myself. I have the Interecciato Credit Card Case. I have been trying to decide between the bill clip wallet and the regular bifold. The bifold look huge online. I am thinking about making a trip to the boutique in Dallas if they have both on hand. Then again the most sensible thing would be to just get a matching money clip for my cash. If anyone here has these and can help with size comparison that would be awesome. I have been using an LV pocket organizer, but looking to try something else for a change.

Hello! I do not have either but have been close to pulling the trigger on the bi fold with money clip but was worried that it might get bent in the back pocket and I have used money clips but they drive me nuts.
(The one that got away for me is the old croc version of the bifold - perfects size)

BV quality is stunning but the newer models indeed seem a bit bulkier and as cash is not very common where I live I would personally opt for the slimmest or tinies version possible.

Personally, when travelling a place where cash is common, I use an Hermes Citizen twill long wallet which I love because it is so slim but tbh with Apple Pay I prefer going wallet free and just use the phone.
When I need to bring cards I either reach for my Tom Ford card case or LV zippy wallet. For the past few weeks I have used a pochette cle which is perfect because it fits both keys and cards and the occasional coins and bills.

Maybe you should look at a zippy style keypouch/cardcase?

Hmmmm perhaps. I think I will just make the trip so I can see in person. It is hard for me to determine by dimensions alone. I did have at one time a Saint Laurent wallet that had a zippered pouch, but for my taste it looks a bit feminine for me. It was convenient though.

Really liking Bottega's Getaway bag in the small. It appears to be a new release in their webstore, at least.
However, while I love the grey color, I already have an incoming Andiamo in that very shade.
And the fondant, while a lovely color, doesn't really work for me on that bag. I'd prefer a lighter color to better show off the handles and details.
Any idea if this style is likely to be released in more colors in the near future, like their pretty Travertine color, a light, warm brown, or a green?

I'm kind of obsessed.

Hmm.
  • I suggest contacting a boutique near you and asking a Sales Associate. They might have some info.
  • Sometimes BV offers bags in unique colorways through department stores (NM, Saks, BG, Bloomingdales, etc.) rather than boutiques, check them too. (Caveat: the model name of a bag might not be consistent between boutiques and dept stores, so browse the dept store's inventory rather than just keyword searching by name.)
  • You might also consider BV's old Roma style bag. It came in several sizes and colors and it's a similar silhouette.
Happy hunting! :flowers:

Anyone submit to yoogis lately for quotes?
Submitting quote requests for cervos right now, and its really weird. Some are going through and some are saying undefined try again. Has to be a glitch. Very frustrating though, to redo, adding pix and the serial#, and it keeps saying undefined for some. Wondering if its the serial numbers? Arrgh, moving onto fashionphile

Any thoughts?

I'd like to wish all the lovely BVettes a Happy Thanksgiving!

Also a little life update - I've been pretty quiet the last few weeks, working on what I call The Great Reshuffle. I moved stuff out of one home I inherited earlier this month, and the house hit the market on Monday morning. Tonight, it's under contract! It's definitely bittersweet letting go of a home where so many memories with my family were made. But it's also a huge relief.

So, this holiday, I'm thankful my load is about to be lighter. Cheers! 🥂
