Folded lengthwise into a narrow rectangle and wrapped, tied, or just left hanging around your neck would be a pretty masculine way of wearing a GM shawl, IMO.

I wore the same Les Clés folded in half and draped over the shoulders of a cream shirt today, paired with dark jeans. Sorry, I forgot to take pics - but a GM shawl really MAKES a boring look into something special!
