Ode to the Picotin

Over the the moon with my first Hermes bag, the Picotin 18 in Craie PHW. I am normally a gold girl, but this shade of soft off white looks lovely with the PHW.

Here's mine. It is in Maurice Leather, so smaller grained and stiffer than TC. Color looks very close to etoupe, it's called Origan.

Twinning!!! Exact specs including color. I am loving Taurillon Maurice and it's stiffer construction. Where has it been all my life??? Here's my Picotin 18 with furoshiki lining made out the "Parade en Fanfare Scarf 90".

I jumped at the chance to pick this up in France - first Hermes bag. Wrapping my head around how to use it but it was too beautiful to say no. So far I have only picked up a very flexible bag insert (I like the smooshiness) but I am considering a strap also.

Let me introduce my first Picotin Pico 18 Beige Marfa PHW Clemence leather. My lovely SA surprised me with it! Its my third Hermès bag. First was Mini Évelyne in Béton GHW, secon Kelly 25 Retourne Noir. Beige Marfa is the perfect addition to my collection and also my first bag ever (!) with silver hardware

For those who have/had both the Picotin and the Picotin lock, did you prefer one over the other and why?

I’m considering buying a pre-loved Picotin before the lock but also considering buying one in-store, but worried that without a pre-spend I won’t be offered.

It’s worth asking. Nowadays I think you could most likely get one without much pre spend.

I say yes. I love the one on Amazon by DGAZ. It’s lightweight and pliable, but firm enough to hold the structure. I also bought one from 7rp for a lot of $$$, but felt it would show demarcations over time, plus it’s heavier.
