Just popping in to say all of you ladies look fabulous with these. I don't own any, but I am definitely going to start exploring this. Thank you for sharing!

I am so glad you started this thread, Rainneday:woohoo:,- I love the pareo formats and material, and like Birdonce I am deeply frustrated that hermes .com for some unfathomable reason does not show pareos flat (see Pareo Rant-thread).

So lets use this thread not only to show our pareos in action, but also to show pareos flat/unfolded.
:smile1:

My experience is that pareos are fairly hard to come by. My local shop never has pareos and when I visit hermes shops on my travels in Europe I am rarely in luck. I would love to know whether there are certain stores or countries that generally or regularly have pareos.

Currently, I only own one Hermes pareo,,- the lovely Mythique Pheonix shown earlier in this thread. I will try to take a photo of it flat/unfolded next week.

:flowers:

Yay! More MP! I am hoping to acquire one at some point.

It is frustrating that they do not show the pareo unfolded, I can't image there is a good reason for that.

I think they keep a small stock at my store too, this was the only FP pareo in the store that day.

There are 2 sizes of the pareo.

The larger size has the cute patterns and measures 59" x 71"

The smaller size are the solid colors with a white band on the border, called "yachting pareo" and measures 40" x 62"

Thank you for this info, Scarfmischief!

I adore the pareos, great thread!

I prefer the larger size, but couldn't pass these smaller yachting pareos up because they were ombred.

I LOVE these. Dreamy...

Hermes pareos are truly fabulous pieces and far underrated. I have only two, both from the Pret-a-Porter line, rather than the super large normal beach line—of which Flamingo Party is one. Both of mine are of Mythiques Phoenix . . . and after taking them to the Caribbean, I grabbed both of the scarf version because nothing says "vacation" so much as this design.

Arabesques, thank you! It was your photo of MP that started me on the hunt for a pareo! I couldn't remember who had posted that picture...it was you!

Maybe I will give it another try as the design I tried on felt quite hard because there was so much at my neck, but I am compairing it to the feel of my shawls and the 140 summer silk but really want to like it.

I'm thinking of getting a pareo for my vacation too. Can you tell me if pareos can be washed in the washing machine and dryer? I know silks can be dry cleaned only. Thanks

I don't wash any of my gentle/thin cottons in the washing machine, even though they may be fine washed that way. I do wash some other delicates in small mesh bags, on the gentle cycle, in the machine, and then hang to dry. I think you would be safe to stick the pareo into one of these bags and wash on gentle :smile1:. I am curious to hear if anyone has washed and dried theirs.

Pareos can definitely be washed in machine, no problem at all. They are high-quality cotton. I use a gentle wash, 30 degrees Celcius.

(I actually also wash all my silk scarves in the washing machine, too, but one at a time, using "hand wash"- program at 20 degrees Celcius.)

I don't use mesh bags, preferring to wash all scarves individually so as to eliminate risk of "abrasions".
