Oh I completely agree with you that the bag was designed way back then with the plain side as the front. The intention is reflected in the bag closure.
But the question that I responded to was whether H is "condoning" wearing the bag with the H facing out. To which I said yes, because that's how they market the bag today.

in so doing you misrepresented what I wrote:
I choose my words carefully;
recognising is not the same as condoning;
recognising in this context is being aware of - there is no suggestion of approval;
condoning is approving
we must not fall out over it - it's not like driving the wrong way down a one-way street

Apologies for misunderstanding your original statement. I will restate what I said as my personal opinion and not yours then
I believe that H "condones", "approves of", and "allows" this usage of the Evelyne (and again, I'm putting all these words in quotation marks, because at the end of the day, H can't tell someone how to use a bag that they paid for).
The Evelyne is always displayed in the glass case (at least at my store) with the H facing out.
All the online listings (like this) have the H as the first image. The plain side is the 4th picture. The model wears the H facing out.

I don't have any skin in this discussion but coincidentally when I just got my PM Evie this past weekend, the SA also reminded me that it is supposed to be worn with the perforations on the inside (which I prefer anyway)---and he commented that it's unwieldy to open the tab on the top otherwise. However, they too had the bag on display with the perforations facing out!!! I, too, believe that whatever works for their clients is fine with them. 
I got an impromptu leather appointment in Paris and the SA told me after the fact it was because they were impressed I wore my Evelyne “properly”. I am sticking to wearing it H in! But to each their own.

I don't actually own an Evelyne, LOL I'm still waiting for a design with a leather strap!
It would be tempting to yank the closure the wrong way.
I'm guessing people who wear the H to the front just leave their bags open
Hi guys! Love the thread, but I have a question! I’ve had a request at my two homestores (one Europe, one SEA) for a Green Evelyne PM and they both have told me that the wait will be long (it has been) because the PM has been coming out mostly in neutrals for years now and definitely *not* green for some reason has anyone seen green PM’s flitting about lately??? I’m losing my mind? 😇😬😵💫😵💫😵💫😬😇🧡
Not sure if the color sage is green enough for you but I just bought a PM in this color (as a walk-in!).
