Hi,
Could I ask what type of leather you have in the photo? Is it Clemence? I just heard that you have to avoid water/rain with Clemence leather and was wondering. Some website said Clemence when water drops on it it spot is hard to remove and even makes boil? Evelyne seems to be very carefree bag but most seem to come in Clemence and would hate to have it ruined due to rain so not sure how it wears. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Completely inaccurate info on that website - some day I hope they will change it. Clemence does NOT blister in water. I have six Clemence bags, most have been rained on and some have been drenched - all are fine.

yea when I saw that I was like 'yikes!' and wondered why anyone would buy that leather bag. i like a little drama in my life but that is too much. lol!

Thanks for clarifying, this is good to hear. I had seen this on other websites and was worried.

It’s not like I walk 20 blocks in the rain anyway, I just run to and from my car.

I'll tell again as it's been some time the story of my Evie disaster:

I was on a business trip to Mexico, on a plane in a bulkhead seat, with my black Clemence PM Evie on the floor in front of me. All of a sudden I, and the entire first row, had our feet in a PUDDLE! The galley had sprung some kind of leak, it came through the walls, and rows 1 and 2 were an inch deep in gray yucky water!!!

Cut to the chase, we all got paper towels and blotted our things, etc. (thank GOODNESS it was just freezer water, OMG) but my bag was SOAKED completely through. I could have wrung it out.
I had TWO MORE HOURS of flight time and then probably 45 going through customs - literally dripping water out of my bag - AND a 90 minute drive from Cancun to Tulum. By the time I checked into my hotel the bag had been soaking wet for more than five hours and much of the time had things in it, because I had nowhere else to put them.
I laid the bag down on a towel flat and let it dry overnight.

My scarf (not H) that was in the bag - ruined. My Sombrero Ulysse that was in the bag - pretty ragged looking. My Evie? At most, the items in the pocket might have stretched it a tiny bit. Now, this is a black bag, and yucky not-clean water might have hurt a light bag, but the water itself did not hurt the bag one bit. This was at least 3-4 years ago and the Evie is still going strong.

Clemence is seriously ok with water :)

Every time someone posts about hearing the Clemence blisters in the rain, I wait for you to tell this story! :P Seriously, I don’t know what website this misinformation is on, but I shudder to think of how many people have shied away from Clemence because of it. I think of your story as THE Clemence-can-get-wet story! My Clemence Evies have gotten wet from rain and snow, but nothing like the soaking yours endured. And yes, they are totally fine! Thanks for sharing again!

Hi everyone - posted this on the main page but realized I should have posted it here,

I’ve been thinking of getting an Evelyne 29 for awhile now and am ready to pull the trigger.

I got an email from my SA that they got 2 in today - a Bleu Saphir and a Rouge Piment. Both with gold hardware. My SA didn’t mention what type of leather.

I know it’s all personal preference but if you had to choose between these 2 colors, which would you choice

Thanks so much for any advise. Very excited!

Found out from my SA that the RP is in Clemence and the Saphir is in Maurice. On my way in to see both now. Really think I want Clemence but don’t want to discount the other having never seen it before. I’ll post back later if I get one today. Thanks for your input.
