I don’t think the evelyne is an age based bag...frankly you have to like the bag for yourself. However I think the Chanel jumbo has a very different vibe. It definitely seems more formal. I think the evelyne is very cute but much more of a casual chic bag. Its also significantly cheaper.

An Evelyne is a great everyday casual bag you can use over the shoulder and crossbody. A Chanel jumbo is a shoulder bag and can be used casually and for dressed up events but not necessarily formally. Both are classic styles and can definitely grow older with you if they suit your style and needs.

Lol...right? You made me rethink my own wording...perhaps "less expensive" would have been more appropriate. In reality nothing these brands make is "cheap!"
I think the Evelyne can work at any age so that gets my vote easily. Throughout this thread I’ve seen ladies of all different ages wearing it well. As far as the Chanel single flap goes, your only option will be preloved and without the inner flap, it doesn’t hold its shape very well.
Considering the fact that the price will be around the same for a new Evelyne vs. a preloved single flap, I would absolutely get the Evelyne.
I’m “older” too and think it’s a youthful looking bag but that’s because I picture wealthy French teenagers riding their bikes carrying it, which used to be the picture on the former Hermès website. So for that reason I think a Chanel is more age appropriate.
I have both and I love my evie more!! The evie is way more carefree, comfortable and under the radar. I have seen women in any age with evie and they all look fantastic. (I live in a big city, so it’s not rare yet not too common)

What do you mean by “older?” Im 52 and my Evelynes (one PM and one GM) are my most used bags. They’re a classic Hermes style, comfortable to use and oh-so-practical. The quality is superb and they fit my casual lifestyle really well. I also have a couple of Chanel Reissues in the 227 size, which is comparable to a Jumbo but more understated. I think a lot of it depends on styling, but a Chanel classic can certainly look “old” if it’s styled in a very conservative way.
My advice is to get the bag that best fits your style and lifestyle — and what you love the most — now. Are you casual most of the time or do you like your bag to be more dressy? People want to get a bag that will be in style forever, but that bag doesn’t exist. I think the Chanel is more versatile just because the Evie is so strictly casual, but lots of people with Jumbos say they are heavy and conspicuous It really depends on what look you like best and what your needs are because they are so very different. But I wouldn’t base the decision on age.
I’m 55 and have an Evelyne I’ve been carrying daily. Never crossed my mind it was too young!

I bought an organizer from Soonibaginbag from Etsy. Charis from LVLoverCC (YouTube) did a video about hers so I ordered one too. It doesn’t have a zip opening so sometimes I alternate with a zippered pouch my Hermès SA gave me for free. (It doesn’t hurt to ask.)
hi! I was looking at your new Hermes bag and wanted to ask you how hard it was to get? I’m going to Paris next month and the color combo you got it’s wxactly what I want. Online only shows a bright blue one so I don’t know weather each boutique carries different colors or the online color is the only available everywhere.
Do you have a local SA you work with? They can do a charge send for you if you can’t find it and your local store does not have your desired color.
